0.9.3 was just released :)

Changelog:

  • Added Pro Designs
  • Editor now has "Edit pattern" feature
  • Edit pattern feature enables 32bit editing and automatic color quantization and preview in texture and model
  • Added all legacy designs of AC:NL (sleeveless dress, shortsleeve dress, longsleeve dress, sleeveless shirt, shortsleeve dress, longsleeve dress, sphere cap, horn cap. Yea, you read right. The horn cap is back)
  • Streamlined the QR import.
  • Improved QR code reading.
  • Added lines to the editor to show which parts are visible on the clothing.
  • Added optional UV lines.
  • Added History (Undo/Redo)
  • Added a way to import ACNH Design Patterns. (The MO Code stuff) It's not great but it helps a bit I think.
  • Added a way to import ACNL files again (Import design)
  • Added a way to import pattern images you've exported
  • Added import optimizer (brightness, contrast, saturation, sub pixel shifting) to help with ACNH patterns
  • Improved the import of MO-Code designs by giving an option to shift x/y/size in sub pixels to get a sharp image.
  • Added a way to export ACNL files via Export QR (Only legacy designs are supported)
  • Added a way to export QR codes via Export QR (Only legacy designs are supported)
  • Improved import and export design by adding a popup to streamline the process.
  • Added project files (acnhp).
  • Added clear design in pattern editor.
  • Added change clothing type in pattern editor.
  • Added export and import of acnh files. (Easier transfer of designs for app users)
  • Improved QR export with a nice design.
  • Added the ability to "create savegames". These are basically files which only contain design patterns. This means you can use the editor without a savegame now and save your progress.
  • Added mouse cursors
  • Added hotkey "alt" for colorpicker in editor.
  • Some minor and major bugfixes. Especially within the editor (like: History isnt updating correctly)
  • Added version label to the bottom left
  • Added patreon button into main menu
  • And a lot more small bug fixes and additions.

This is awesome ! Is it possible to import this type of picture or convert them to be read by the program ?

This is super cool, amazing work! I would love to use it, but for some reason whenever I launch the exe nothing shows up. The process is running in the background using 36.4 MB of RAM but it's stuck like that. I've tried running as admin, downloading the latest build, disabling antivirus... Not sure what else to try.

I've gotten some good use out of this but the latest update is making it almost unusable for me. I have a really crappy laptop that can't hardly run anything, is there any way to add a performance mode which maybe lowers resolution and disables some of the animations?

How about you try "Import Design" => "Image" and select that image? :)
I didn't realise I could do this! The only issue Im having is some designs dont fit over the entire shirt model (top of sleeve near shoulders). Any ides how I would fix this or will this adjust in game? Theres a white line around the image if that makes sense

Use edit pattern in my tool and fix it manually. Nintendo removes some pixels from the edge which I cant restore :)

For anyone experiencing extremely high GPU usage, something like 70 degrees plus running this and their fans spinning like a jet engine when running this application and who is also on Nvidia, cap the max FPS of this application.

i do advice ya'll to use a different program if this doesn't work out and you don't feel like it's safe for ya'll to use =O. i recommend just waiting for acpatterns as well.

edited; i reconmmended this due to people having troubles :") with the program or encase of them not wanting to download it at all <3 not everyone uses programs -although acpatterns has it's limitations it looks to be more liked then qr patterns, sad honestly.

Capping the FPS drops it down to normal temperatures and usage. ^^

Its because of a bug. I accidentally activated the 10 3DS clothing cameras. So they are rendering all the time 1000px1000px images. As I'm in the middle of abandoning System.Drawing to make it fully mac (and maybe linux) compatible I can't quickly push out a build yet. I may get the current github state and just push out an update today tho :)

Can you two please try 0.9.3p1? It's available on GitHub and should fix the performance issues :)

As there was an accusation of me hiding a bitcoin miner inside the app because of the previous performance bug I will give you the same explanation I gave that person on discord.

The accusation was:
if anyone is using Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Design Pattern Editor I suspect that it contains a bitcoin miner
prior to the update today it caused like 40% GPU usage which is not at all normal
and when I posted on the thread supposedly a fix was offered
but on github
there appeared to be no code change whatsoever even though the GPU usage went down

First off: All releases (besides the discord exclusive beta builds) are on GitHub.

My explanation:
There is no cryptominer. Version 0.9.3p1 has that rendering problem fixed. It came from this

YFQNq9L.png

10 of these cameras rendered all the time with 1000x1000px (no AA with deferred rendering so I have to use Super Sampling for the QR code images and editor preview to look decent
All other performance problems is coming from System.Drawing and the GDIPlus Library and how Unity handles continous texture updates. For that I implemented a native (written in cpp) library to directly access the underlying native texture objects and fill them and completly abandon System.Drawing (which also adds Mac support without any installing of Mono etc.)

Here you can see my last profiling :)
It's running pretty smooth with OGL now too. Previously OGL lagged like hell. (1-2FPS). Now its easily achieving 120-200FPS. The resampling and quantizing is now in its own thread so its not impacting the editor itself anymore.
The source code is open. So you can search for that cryptominer which isnt there :)
and to be really precise

lzbcBwF.png

It was this checkbox I had do disable :) Download the project from GitHub previous to the update and after it and see that the checkbox is unchecked now
Or did I miss to save (and therefore commit) the scene? Wait a sec
ZHwVRrU.png

nope its there

ZW36i3J.png

And in its diff you can see that I did exactly what I claimed I did. So please look up the diff before claiming you know anything about cryptominers.
I am sorry tho that I cant afford a QA department with 11$ from patreon :) I will look into hiring a QA department. :'3 /s
But on a serious note. If performance is a concern for you right now wait for 0.9.4 which will feature a completly new bitmap library (written by myself) in combination with SkiaSharp for import/export stuff. It will greatly improve performance of pattern editing.
If you have a slow GPU/CPU setup you can always contact me for a beta build of my new optimized build. I would be grateful. :) I do need testers as with my RTX 2080 Ti and R9 3950X I am not quite average.

What? I would just ignore bullshit claiming like "may be a bitcoin miner".
The Project is open source and made with Unity. You can see the source on GitHub and compile it by yourself or even de-compile Mono/C# code, to see what is inside.
And people who can't even read code should be silence.
