By the way, PS2 HDMI adapter works as seen (via YCbCr), but don't. Just get a Component Cable instead.

But if you do not have another PS2 with modchip or just card with FMCB you could buy premoded cart on eBay or sth, for FAT version there is way to prepare almost same setup by using hard drive. I not touched my FAT PS2 since many years...

Still, what are the fucking odds? Maybe if I scoured around the forests where I live, I might find a Saturn with the SD-card drive that's handled by that one dickface of a guy who can't handle a bunch of people looking to mod their systems!

Nice!! Does the system even try to read the disc? If not then you may need to clean the lid switch, even a little bit of soda or something on it can make the flimsy switch stick... sitting in a forest would do it too. If not, then I'd start disassembly and take out the laser. If it's what I am thinking it is (stuff in the laser assembly), pry off the metal shield up top of the laser carefully and use a Q tip to get in between the diode and the lens. Don't make the lens "clack" against anything while you're doing it. Then throw the metal shield back on and see if it works!
