The real problem is people using OG Atmopshere because it's somehow more holy than ReiNX. Instead, just devs and homebrew makers should be using atmosphere vanilla and everyone else should be using the consumer-friendly version, ReiNX (or other alternatives).

Why do people cling to vanilla atmosphere so tightly?

Turns out people "should" use whatever the fuck they want, and it's not for you or blawar to decide.

Exactly, they can use his software or not. No one's forcing them to. It's his project, which he develops in his time, and if he chooses to go this path it's his choice.

Too much entitlement.

Except Blawar DOES force you to use his Atmosphere fork plus mercury if you want to use tinfoil when there is absolutely no reason for him to do so other than pure spite

Well let's see here...Atmosphere is updated to work with 9.0 which some people have updated to for whatever reason while ReiNX has not, Atmosphere has more features than ReiNX, it's also more stable than ReiNX(In my personal experience at the very least). If it works then why SHOULDN'T people use it? There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with end users using atmosphere

Nah, we both know I could be spiteful if I wanted to be :)

imagine what would happen if every devs was forking atmosphere to implement their own view of how things should work, and make a requirment that their fork must be present for their homebrew to run? how would that end for the users?

About Edizon, you know it's not abandoned right? And it works fine on 9.0? Heck I know what @WerWolv is even up to. And it's gonna be fabulous!

... Ok?
What exactly is the point you're trying to make?

This is what happens when a dev uses closed source software, they can require any dependency they want and can modify whatever open source library/code they depend on. Pretty much like how TX started SXOS where the dependency is open source and they simply made closed source components baked into their "version of Atmosphere" to allow them to charge money for it. Once users depend so much on a dev's app that has closed source, the dev can easily ask for anything, including money.

--I think he trolls.
At least that's how I understood the thing from the first word.--

I still don't understand how that's supposed to be relevant in this discussion.

Its abandoned until he recompiled for latest libnx. Even then, he barely updates it. Edizon has felt abandoned for a long time.

That already happened with retroarch, and some select other applications LOL. I tell you what, i'll remove my fork when retroarch runs on all cores on all CFW's :) But you give retroarch a pass on it, because its your favorite CFW and its open source. I get it :)

Also "But you give retroarch a pass on it, because its your favorite CFW and its open source." Correct me if i'm wrong but...retroarch isn't a CFW right? It's an emulator
I think I can hazard a guess at what he meant by that (still missing the point of what he was responding to, deliberately or otherwise), but yeah I guess he can't write properly either.
