Super Mario Maker 2 announced, launches this June

One of the most memorable games on the Wii U, Super Mario Maker, is getting a sequel. There's a whole host of new things shown off in the trailer, such as being able to create slopes in levels, and the cat suit powerup from Super Mario 3D World being used in 2D. Once more, players will be able to make their own custom courses when it launches this June for the Nintendo Switch.

But how would the Game work in Docked mode?

Which particular part are you struggling with? I mean.... It's a grid-based level layout.... I'd imagine d-pad navigates to the next block in any given direction, one analogue stick acts in a kind of "mouse" mode, for more rapid navigation in all directions in the visible area, and the other one pans around the map. Button A to place a block, hold button a to paint blocks while navigating, and button B to erase.

In other words: The same way console level editors have worked for over a decade.

I wonder if it will be possible to download levels to play? Probably not I'll guess.

Is that even possible with SSM1 on the WiiU?

@877 You could download other peeps levels made in Mario Maker im sure they will include that in the new Maker.

I was so addicted to Mario Maker for awhile just hoped it would have included more Audio Tracks Bowsers Themes OST of those Games in the Maker as I mentioned in an earlier Post.

My prediction:

Nintendo creates an android/iOS app to allow you to use a 3rd party tablet as a controller for Mario Maker (not unlike the phone app for voice chat online)

Subsequent prediction:

This app is modified by the scene (or a new app created using this as a base) to allow remote control Switch access on a system level, not just for Mario maker exclusively.

It would be a nice add on (just like that Just dance app, where you use your Phone as a Controller) but they will use the Analog stck from the left Joycon as a Cursor, to move the Items and place it with the A button.

Hopefully the Orchestra version of the SMW Castle theme from the Wii U version returns.

This is (i think) very unlikely to happen. Im not a dev, i can't say if it is possible or not (but i think it's not)

honestly, once you've played them you played them all. If you already played the original, your gonna get bored of 2 quickly unless they put a game changing element.
It could be like botw where the game was way better than the trailer, even though botw could have been way better...

One thing that really irritated me on the 3DS was the need for a constant internet connection when playing in 100 mario challenge mode. Why couldn't they have the system keep a cache of, say, 100 levels so you can keep playing it when you don't have access to an internet connection?

My prediction:
...{convoluted}...

Or... They could just develop an interface using the controller (as the one in the promo video clearly seems to be)

Something like slopes, water, switch blocks, cat dude, puffy wind clouds, background enemies, or any of the multitude of other game-changing elements demonstrated in the promo video, perhaps?

Back then in Mario Maker for Wii U, you could unlock everything on the first Day, if you adjusted the System time. Would be interssting to know, if it still works in Mario Maker 2.

even if they don't include it, there is always LayeredFS. But a Online mode like in Mario Maker for Wii U would be nice (as long you don't need a paid Nintendo Online account, to upload Levels)

I meant offline (i.e. upload via SDcard). As I have homebrew running

Then you can use a Savegame Manager (like Checkpoint), to extract the Savegame (the Levels would be stored there i think)
