Super Mario Maker 2 announced, launches this June

One of the most memorable games on the Wii U, Super Mario Maker, is getting a sequel. There's a whole host of new things shown off in the trailer, such as being able to create slopes in levels, and the cat suit powerup from Super Mario 3D World being used in 2D. Once more, players will be able to make their own custom courses when it launches this June for the Nintendo Switch.

I thought there was no hope.
but there it is, it's awesome and only 4 months until release!
I'm really excited about slopes, mostly and the co-op mode that maybe will come,
I mean even at the end you can see Mario and Luigi together, come on.

seriously. that's like saying, "wait out your childhood"

I would have said the same thing, but explained the recent trend of companies just re-releasing games or "remastering" them on a new console. At least with Nintendo, they know when to improve on something as opposed to just simply porting things over in the case of this game.

Now, not growing up with a PS2 in my case until I was 13, when the PS3 and 360 were already out... (I really wanted a PC, but knew my parents were such cheap skates (I blame the scam of a church they give their money to. No, it's not a televangelist, it's that they'll give, in total, $10,000 to a church of whom's associations are questionable at best) that they'd never consider buying that)

I have been waiting for this. I feel like this is gonna blow up the Switch. I know it was already released on the WiiU, but the poor weeyou sold so poorly that now anyone who didnt feel like buying the awkwardly named previous console will now have ready access to one of the best games Nintendo has made in a long while.

Can we get:

Co op(maybe even online Co op?)

Ability to share levels without online (at the very least local level sharing like 3DS)

More older game styles

Already looks freaking amazing though, and release is so soon!

Yeah but like a ten year old waiting a year and a half is kinda a big ask. I'm sure they'll have gotten their money's worth out of a Wii U in that time compared to what the Switch has had. Not to be downselling how amazing the Switch is or anything, but the Wii U was pretty decent, especially for kids.
When I was 8, i waited forever for the next Zelda after Skyward Sword. I didn't get one until BOTW. He can do it, trust me

I second this.

this is definitely shaping up to be a massive switch mover. going to push it over the top for outselling ps4 lifetime sales.

I personally really hope that each game type now has proper physics instead of just using the SMB U physics for everything.

At least make it an option. This was my biggest gripe of the first game.

Yay! Mario Maker on the Go!:toot:

The UI looks good(for me. All importent Tools are in reach and that new UI for the Items looks good). So, they ported the Super Mario 3D world engine into 2D? Super Mario 3D world Deluxe (anyone?) It would be interesting, if you need a Paid Nintendo Online Account to Post levels online (I hope not!) And did i see Boom-Boom? Would be interesting to see, how they implemented him in 2D. But how would the Game work in Docked mode?

SMM 3D is a thing, boom boom originated in 2d, and a cursor.

The 3D world stages are 2.5D you can add background obstacles like banzai bill launchers.
There's also a splashart on the Japanese news page featuring cat toad and cat luigi

The snow biome shown is one of the only 2 shots of NSMBU in the trailer.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
