  useful tip I found on reddit. if you need windows and have bought a laptop in the past, check the bottom for it's windows key and try that.

    of course, this is assuming that you don't need the laptop to have activated windows. this also works even if the laptop is windows 7 and the pc is windows 10.

    There's also keys on the side of a lot of office and school computers that just aren't used because they're on a larger enterprise deal. You'd be surprised how many of those just sit unused.
