Thing is we can discuss about it we just cant link directly to things that "Give" us piracy. The sxos is not piracy/cfw is not piracy/homebrew backup tools is not piracy. What we do behind closed doors isn't anyone's business as long we keep it to ourselves here. This site does not tell us where to find any roms at all its against the rules actually.

Theres a difference between enabling piracy and distributing it. The site doesn't care what we do with cfw as long we don't bring piracy here.

What people decided to do with their switches, we don't control over that. GBAtemp isn't for piracy, but we don't deny said tools to be here. It's up to the user themselves what they do.

Unless I misunderstood what happened back then, I thought they wanted integration of RetroArch into their CFW, but not necessarily exclusiveness.
Yeah they were trying to hire the dev behind Retro, but he refused the whole exclusiveness bit was probably exaggeration from the community despite TX's effort in asking. There was so much shitposting back then its very unclear what was true or false. Wouldn't make any sense to me since retro was already out in public before they asked for hire.

I disagree. This site lets people have discussions and share their own experience with other users, but it does not permit you to post links to illegally procured software. Any links provided need to be for software that have open licenses.
In my book, there is a difference between providing you with a space where you can obtain information on how to do something illegal, and actually providing you with something illegal. In either case, its not the site that does it, its the users of said site.

I think they did want exclusiveness. From what I understood, thats the reason the devs turned the offer down, also, TX was not offering much. But maybe im misremembering.

I don't think that it was unethical on TX's part to do that, I think that it was a smart business move. It's the dev's decision who they want to sign with. TX saw something they would have liked on SXOS, and which would have been a huge selling point for SXOS imho, and tried to find a way to include it. However, I dont think they made a good enough offer, or cast it in the correct light.

Having TX buy Retroarch to use exclusively is as 'unethical' as any console having exclusive third party titles.

Yes, exactly. That is precisely the tweet I had read before.
But again, I dont think there is anything unethical in that. I think it seems unethical because he/she used the word 'bribe', and said they asked for him to stop work. Think about it this way, he/she literally said:

"BTW guys, a fun story to pass the time until 1.7.5 drops. Team Xecuter wanted to bribe one of the RetroNX developers into stopping work on their project and to make this OpenGL-enabled build of RetroArch 'exclusive' to their hardware. Unfortunately for them, m4xw sided with us!"

But if he would have worded it like this:
"BTW guys, a fun story to pass the time until 1.7.5 drops. Team Xecuter made an offer to one of RetroNX developers into going to work for them and to make this OpenGL-enabled build of RetroArch an exclusive feature for their hardware. Unfortunately for them, m4xw thought their offer wasn't attractive enough!"

Im pretty sure that m4xw is not under contract with libretro. This is what happens in business, you headhunt for the best people for your project. If your competitors are underpaying their employees, then you offer them something better and improve your project with their contributions. This is what keeps companies paying their employees GOOD wages when they are doing a good job in a competitive market. It keeps wages high, improves product quality, and offers employees with leverage against their employers. This is the reason why companies try to build loyalty in their employees, so they cant be head hunted with money alone. It forces companies to build up their profiles, and make attractive offers; in my view, it's good for everyone. Unfortunately for TX, they weren't able to provide an attractive enough offer for m4xw to switch sides.

Edit: Signing bonuses are almost entirely the same thing as a bribe, and yet they are a thing.

I think its b/c ppl want to coat paint the "Bribe" as Begging at least thats the kind of vibe Im getting from that old debate. Sure I can agree TX was trying to "Monopolize" opensource software, but the fascinating part thats overlooked is that they asked and didn't steal-implemented his works into the sxos. The offer didn't measure up, but they offered one in the right way.

The last practical feature they can add is video playback. I doubt anyone will use the browser if they implemented one, unless it's an open-source browser, no one should be using it for security reason.

The Switch already has a browser, built-in to Horizon OS. It is accessible a variety of ways, the easiest being through homebrew https://github.com/XorTroll/Goldleaf . What security reason would there be to make one not want to use it? RCE? lol, no.
