v6.4.4

NOTE: First release under the RocketRobz name.

Update instructions
  1. Overwrite the "_nds" folder and "boot.nds" file on the SD root, with the new ones from the .7z file.
  2. For DSi CFW users, put "title" folder from "CFW - SDNAND" root folder, onto the SD card root.
If you're asked to overwrite, click "Yes".
  3. On 3DS, install the two CIAs in the "cia" folder.
What's new?
  • Non-spoofed AK2i carts should now be supported when running from the SD card or as a CIA.
  • Japanese Nintendo DSi Sound .launcharg added. (by @Epicpkmn11)
Bug fixes
  • Acekard theme: Fixed recent homebrew (such as GodMode9i) being booted as DSiWare.
  • Corrected grammatical error "ran" -> "run" in "Last-ran ROM". (by @aphirst)

The only difference is the save size. The NoCash save will work on TWiLight+nds-bootstrap, and vice-versa.

EDIT: Apparently, there's another difference besides save size.

This might be a bit of a dumb question, but I don't understand -- If I install this on my DSTT, will I be able to run DSi Enhanced games at full speed, with no stutters? Or would I have to stick to the RetroGameFan kernel for that?

this is all very confusing . . . i own an ak2i and a n3dsxl and really just want to add support for game cases/covers but i cant even wrap my head around the instructions do i need to do the non-flashcard 2ds/3ds section or flashcard users or both
You can also directly access the flashcard's microSD card, and switch to and from there anytime!
(check below for which flashcards are supported with direct access.)
Flashcards supported with direct access, if running on the console's SD card:
  • Acekard 2i
  • R4 Ultra (regular, not R4i) (r4ultra.com)
this sounds nice but that keyword if . . . does this mean that i can set it up on console and then can use either source(console and/or flashcard)? or do i need it set up on console and flashcard?

Instructions (No flashcard, 3DS/2DS users)
  1. In the 7z file, extract the "_nds" and "cia" folders, and the "boot.nds" file, to the SD Card root.
  2. Put .gb/.gbc/.nes/.nds ROMs anywhere on your SD card.
  3. Enable game patching in Luma settings, if you have Luma CFW.
  4. Install all 2 CIAs in the "cia" folder.
NOTE: If you're using EmuNAND, then install them to SysNAND as well.
  5. IMPORTANT!: Install TWiLight Menu++ Launcher, and launch it.
TWiLight Menu++ Launcher will launch TWiLight Menu++ on 3DS/2DS.
  6. Set some settings (Boot screen, Notif LED, etc.) to your preference.
  7. Select "Start TWiLight Menu++".
#5 is labeled important yet leads me to a github without any files to be found

Instructions (Flashcard users, including DS Phat/DS lite)
Check here
  1. Extract the files/folders in the 7z file, including the "_nds" folder, to the flashcard's microSD Card root.
  2. Put .gb/.gbc/.nes/.nds ROMs anywhere on your flashcard's microSD card.
Compatible flashcards for retail ROM booting (skip to step 4, if your flashcard is not listed):
Original R4/M3 Simply?
R4iDSN/R4i Gold RTS/R4 Ultra (Cannot autoboot TWiLight Menu++ with R4iDSN/R4i Gold RTS)
Acekard 2(i)/Galaxy Eagle/M3DS Real (Cannot autoboot TWiLight Menu++ with Acekard 2(i))
Acekard RPG?
SuperCard DSTWO

3. Extract what's in "for Slot-1 microSD" to the root of the flashcard's microSD card.
4. Extract what's in "Flashcard autoboot/(your flashcard)" to the root of the flashcard's microSD card. (Skip this, if you don't see your flashcard.)
5. DS Phat/DS lite users: Go to settings in the DS menu, and turn on auto-start, so your flashcard will start on boot.
6. You're good to go! Launch your flashcard, and TWiLight Menu++ will load! (Load "boot_fc.nds", if you're in the regular flashcard menu.)
7. You can also set your preferred sound/mic frequency, if you're using a DSi/3DS/2DS.
1. i obviously dont need all the files as my flashcard has no use for a cia folder, which is further hinted at by your choice of keyword "Extract the files/folders in the 7z file, including the "_nds" folder, to the flashcard's microSD Card root." the word including suggest that there are indeed things that should not be included as well

the download for acekard 2i contains two "for slot-1" folders (for ak2i) but you dont differentiate which should be installed

"Launch your flashcard, and TWiLight Menu++ will load! (Load "boot_fc.nds", if you're in the regular flashcard menu.)" are you referencing this "(Cannot autoboot TWiLight Menu++ with Acekard 2(i))" if so thats silly as this would only then apply to 3 of 10 listed flashcards and in that case why not just name them so those who would need it would know before panicking

Both.

Both.

Fixed.

Ah. That makes sense. I'll change it to "as well as" then.
the download for acekard 2i contains two "for slot-1" folders (for ak2i) but you dont differentiate which should be installed
Which one to use should be obvious.
In the case of TWiLight Menu++, "for Slot-1 microSD (Acekard 2(i) - TWiLightMenu++, DSiMenu++, SRLoader)" is the one to use.
Yeah. Makes sense.

i cant get desmume to recognize the save. is there a specific emulator that will read the .sav? i had placed the one from my 3ds to the rom where the .sav usually generates.

Over at the 3DS forum, several of us did some testing to figuring out how to make saves cross compatible with flashcart, NO$GBA, DeSmuME, and TWiLight.
In order to back convert a TWiLight 512 KB save to its original raw save size, you'll need to use save state in DeSmuME.
  1. Launch the *.nds rom of that save file.
  2. Import Backup Memory... for the 512 KB save.
  3. Make a Save State somewhere in the game.
  4. Exit out of DeSmuME and delete the 512 KB *.dsv found in the battery folder.
  5. Relaunch DeSmuME, Load State, and save the game somewhere.
  6. Export Backup Memory... Raw Save format (*.sav)
Edit 1 - Disregard the back conversion. Further testing revealed *.dsv reverted to 512 KB size. :(

Edit 2 - After some more testing, found a way to back convert the save to original size and type. Read here. :)

I can't seem to find a working link for the twilight menu download. It just brings up nothing so I can't get the _nds and cia folders, or the boot.nds file.

The one large download button still only gives a 404 error. The menu launcher is fine, the download for the actual menu is the problem.
