No and... no.

I suggest you get a hold of a Vita and check this yourself by playing a hi-res PS1 game on it (try Tekken or Tobal or just look at the boot logo).

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You can look at the recent commits
https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/commits/master

The actual changelog is here:
https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/blob/master/CHANGES.md

But it is not updated every day.
I do have a Vita I just never bothered trying to get adrenaline running. I just figured it would look like ass because most emulators on the PSP looked terrible (way too fuzzy, I had one). 320 x 240 scaled to 480 x 272 with blur filter, then upscaled again on the Vita would look awful. Too overcooked. I didn't know PS1 ran better though. I guess one of these days i will try PS1.

“Most” emulators on the PSP, including the native PS1 emulator (simulator) gave you the option to scale to full screen OR use original 1:1 pixel mapping with black bars on the top and bottom. I really don’t know what you are talking about. Are you saying you tried one emulator and then assumed all other emulators would be the same? I urge you try some other emulators on the PSP and check the display settings.

Yes but the problem is the PSP screen height is too small. It is a widescreen but it isn't tall, and widescreen doesn't do much for games that were originally for 4:3. 1:1 looks fine but the image is tiny. The small screen height plus the borders makes the image way too small for me. You can stretch the screen vertically to fill but since 240 is so close to 272 it just looks ugly.

This is why the Vita and emulators native to the Vita look much better, the screen is bigger plus you get more res for scaling. The more res the better for scaling as then you get more pixels to fill in and smooth things out. If you use 1:1 on a Vita runing PSP vs actual PSP you will get a little bigger image but still kind of small, and you can't use the extra res of the Vita screen for scaling as you are just doubling a PSP image.

Anyone know how to correct this? Happens in 1941-1943 . 1944 has no problem.

FF3 on Snes9x 2002 core has strange notes in the music, it sounds wrong. Any other core has slowdown plus weird music.

Can someone try the latest nightly (03/08/2018) and give some feedback? I pushed a commit yesterday that addresses GPU overclocking so there may be a slight increase in performance. I wouldn't notice it myself since I don't use emulators much.
Saw your post on reddit about this and tried it out. Only played knuckles chaotix for the sega 32x so far and the game runs really good now.

Thank you

I gave it a shot with PCSX ReARMed, PAL version Metal Gear Solid and the PSP2PSX bios. Previously when playing up to the Hind D takeoff cutscene, I was recording dips in framerate of 37 fps, with as low as 33 fps in some intense cases. Now, I'm recording a framerate dip of 42 fps, with the one exception being the elevator cutscene still diving at 33 fps.

Speaking of which, is there a solution to the zoom effect for this game? The emulator as it is now just makes the next scene bleed into the previous one.

EDIT: The update I'm on is h-encore 3.65, no Enso.

Has anyone tried the Neo Geo Pocket core (Beetle NeoPop)? I have used it on 1.7.1 and 1.7.3 and it really has issues with keeping a stable frame rate and the sound is choppy. I would have thought the vita wouldn't have had any issue with this system.

I don't think that emulator was optimized for the psvita hardware that might be why it's having issues. The standalone Neo Geo Pocket/Color emulator for psp called RACE!PSP runs good if you don't mind using adrenaline to use the emulator.

I had all these issues until I came across a youtube channel who has posted full video with all the playlists and thumbnail folders and games for most of the systems. Its so simple to set up. just go onto youtube and look for Thiago OS. DOwnloading the files can be slow as there are loads of popups but my retroarch on my Vita on 3.68 looks superb now with all box arts and icons for each system etc.

Thanks, guess it’s not that popular a system, will try on adrenaline.

If the file size of the Nightly build hasn't changed since the previous night, I take it there are no actual updates to it and not worth downloading?

Why on earth would you think that? Filesize has absolutely nothing to do with how many things were updated. To get an idea of a timeline of changes, go to github.com/libretto/retroarch and click on “commits” or “code” and then ”commits” if you are using the mobile page.

Ah right, good to know. I assumed because when you change a text file or something the size changes, therefore the same would be true of the files for RA. There's been no change (in size) for the last few days so I assumed nothing had changed. Thanks for the link, I'll keep an eye on that page from now on. ;)

EDIT* Just to make sure, NOT ALL the commits are included in the Vita version, or are they? Am I looking for specific Vita additions on the list?

All commits are always included in the latest nightlies, but some do not affect the Vita version at all. This is because many blocks of code and many drivers are disabled when Retroarch is compiled for the Vita, just like it is with any other small platform.

So it is not only the Vita-specific commits to look for, but also the general changes that affect all platforms. Yes, some commits are Vita-specific. But other commits are general and apply to all platforms, including Vita. There are also many commits that only affect certain non-Vita platforms or subsystems that do not affect the Vita. For example, changes related to Vulcan/OpenGL drivers or the QT GUI can be ignored because those subsystems are disabled on the Vita.
