Nope, just go to internet settings, set DNS to manual and add this:

Primary DNS:173.255.238.217
Secondary DNS: 173.255.238.217

That will block the servers. The update will not install without you telling it to. If it has downloaded do this:

Hold down the “Power” Button
Select “Reboot”
If that doesn’t work, reboot again but hold down Volume + and Volume - while rebooting that will clear the update from memory. You can't use the Eshop without updating, but version spoofing will prob let us do so in the future.
Hi on my Switch with 4.1.0 it redownloads the Update although I have set the DNS correctly

Boot in to Recovery Mode by turning the Switch off. Then hold down Vol + and - while holding power. Once you're in there, just reboot your Switch.
Already did that after the reboot it redownloads in background

This ^^
The only thing you can do online is showing yourself to your friends XD
eShops still works on 4.1.0

Welp, but even if I install homebrew on 4.0.1 I'll never be able to update, right? Doesn't make much sense for people who only have one single Switch.
No. The method Sciers is building for us involves EmuNANDs. You keep your Switch's official FW on low numbers to keep exploits open, then introduce a fake FW (emuNAND) that is completely updated, allowing access to online functionality. If you're interested in learning more, read up on the early days of the 3DS. This is how it used to function before AL9H and Bootstrap9.

No this mixes two things. Some people in the scene are stuck with the idea that this is how it should work, so that evil copyright infringement can not occur.

However, what people here (mostly) are talking / thinking about is low level access to the system to do BOTH. Games and Homebrew. So, 4.1.0 will take a while, but it will likely get BOTH at the same time on ONE switch :)

All right, so dumb paranoid question here:
I just got a second Switch for homebrew down the road. It's on 4.1.0; I can live with that.
My question is, I've heard that two Switches in close proximity can send updates to each other? Is this true? And if it is, under what circumstances does this happen? I haven't updated my old one to 5.0.0 yet, but I plan to, and I want to make sure this won't happen before I do.

They don't see eachother and start talking to eachother like Furbies. There are options to share update data for games (though I'm not sure about firmware) over WiFi in the settings menus. It's manually initiated.

Heh, Furbies. Now there's a mental image I didn't want xP Thanks for the quick and simple answer; must have just been a silly rumor I heard.
