Hey guys, so I'm using CBHC and have Zelda Breath of the Wild installed with the Brazilian method. I'd like to go back to a previous update, is there any way to do this? I'm thinking just deleting the game and then reinstalling it. Will that work?

Boooo, well I guess it's worth a try.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You can delete the update and reinstall an older one, but your save will most likely not work

So I tried this. Sadly when I try to launch the game the Wii tries to update the game. It fails of course, because I have the server blocked, but it won't launch the game if I don't update.

Why do you want to delete it?

Thats because when the game launched there was a day one update that is needed for the game to load. You are going to need to check the internet to see if any site has the day 1 update then download and install it using wup installer ymod or gmod

Yeah try installing an older update that should work. You can also edit the version number of the base game (involves editing files) to get it to launch without installing any updates but that's for a different thread I think :)

Editing the Base number would work for most games just not BOTW as the game shipped without round about 3gb of game files on the disc and that is what is in the day one update. The game won't launch without it as it's missing key game files

I'm sure I read people had it running on cemu by doing that at launch, but might be getting my wires crossed

Disappointing that developers haven't been able to figure out a way around this.
Most games have this limitation. It's understandable. The game would probably glitch out if you tried to run, especially if there are a lot of coding changes.

Here's an example of patch notes for FF15 that gives this heads up:
  • Saved games must be updated to work with the current version of the game.
  • Current version saves will not work with the former version of the game.
It's standard practice.

If I remember well, in wii u usb helper user can choose which update(s) to download if there's more than one available for a game.
The update with the lowest number should be the day 0 update, worth trying and good luck. :)

You're right. It does allow you to pick which update you want. Now that I think of it... I wonder why Nintendo didn't patch this? Since you're downloading directly from their servers, that implies the files are available on their servers. Why not pull the old versions from the store? Considering how you can't pick which version you want on the normal eshop, wouldn't it be smart to patch that?

Or maybe I should stop giving Nintendo ideas. Kek

It doesn't work like that.

When you update BOTW, there is a file that is saved that has the Update Version Number stored. So the game will NOT launch until it detects the same game version as it has listed in that file. It doesn't matter which update you install, as long as its lower then what is stored in that file, the game will not launch.

Im not sure which file it is, or where it is at. But I remember reading a guide on here on how to downgrade BOTW via FTP. Search the forum, im sure its here somewhere.

But if you do this, just know that your saved games may or may not work for BOTW. Just downgrade at your own risk.

Every time there is a BOTW update, I never blindly update, I go on the forum and I check out the trainer thread to see if PandaOnSmack is working on a new update. Then I only update BOTW after the trainer gets updated. But I don't expect PandaOnSmack to jump out of bed in the middle of the night to spend 17 hours at his PC to update his trainer as fast as possible. Actually, I think he shouldn't update his trainer after every minor update, I wouldn't. I would wait until a major update is released, like a DLC update or something like that. But I guess that is just me.

I was able to downgrade botw and still use my current save (on 1.3.1) with the downgraded version (1.3.0)
I plan to perform the infinite glitch and I heard the update patched it so I downgraded. Everything works fine, but I have still yet to perform the glitch. Should I write a guide to downgrade?

Did you have to edit a file on the WiiU filesystem that stores the Version Number?

I want to downgrade BotW from v1.4.0 to v1.3.0, but when i launch the game, it tells me to update the console (i'm still on 5.5.1)
What i did :
- Delete update 1.4.0 and DLC 3.0 in data management
- Download update 1.3.0 and DLC 2.0 with USB Helper
- Install them with WUP Installer
- Replace my 1.4.0 savegame with my 1.3.0 backup
When i go to data management nothing is corrupted and the sizes of update and dlc seems good.

It says "System Update", but it's not, it's a Game Update. That happens when you uninstall the latest BOTW update, and try to install and launch the game with an older update.

You can go forward, not backwards with game updates. It's not as easy as uninstalling an update to install an older update, the WiiU doesn't work that way.

To get the older update to work, you need to edit a file on the filesystem via FTPEverywhere. It's a file that stores the game version numbers, to prevent you from installing and playing with older updates.

Someone on here written a tutorial on how to edit that "versions" file I believe. You will have to search around the forums. I would do it for you, but I'm on my phone at the moment.

I forgot again to tell about that. I replaced in versions.bin 0005000E101C95000000FFFF000000C0 by 0005000E101C95000000FFFF00000061 (for v97)
