Most homebrew games are pretty shitty, so can't blame people for not giving them much attention.

But I am annoyed by good threads in this supposedly homebrew dev forum section getting instantly push to 2nd and 3rd page because people are spamming different discussions about exploits, CFWs, their difficulties installing CIAs, some booting problems in their CFW, etc. There's a CFW board already, all that shit needs to go there.

Yeah. I have said that 100 times to both different members and moderators.

I started this thread a couple of months ago.

Before CFWs releases, downloads number where the same at least for my hbs so no, i'm not making the same mistake big majors are doing. (Are big majors you're referring to SHs?).

The only thing i saw is that starting from CFW releases but much more from pirate9loaderhax release, homebrew development section is full of shit with idiots asking every 5 seconds the same questions about pirate9loaderhax, how to play their pirated iso from another region, etc etc and this, for any dev against piracy it's just disgusting.
When you see game homebrews that gets only 10-15 replies ( http://gbatemp.net/threads/re-release-labyrinth-3d.409007/) and at the same time there are shitthreads talking about how to install pirated contents that gets 50-100-200 replies, you understand why you shouldn't make something "for the community" but just "for yourself".

Also GBAtemp is the first BIG forum that allows piracy discussions (something like people can say that they have on their consoles pirated stuffs and ask for help for them) and this is, at least for me, a braindead idea. Why i still use GBAtemp? Just cause visibility, cause if that's for me, i'll just migrate to wololo's forum.

Ninjhax is what only a year old and required you to own an obscure game that no one had (and then shot up to $60 a copy) and downgrading from any new firmware was only a thing very recently. Why are you complaining people suddenly want to pirate shit? The NDS was the same, 99.9% of people only had a flash cart to pirate games. It'll always be this way, if anything there needs to be a sub-forum dedicated to help and support.

You're just being toxic at this point.

It is a little odd that this homebrew development sub forum is nearly all about cfw and cias and piracy. Oh well.

When i've talked about NDS scene? If i release only a single NDS homebrew and then leaved it as fast as i could, it's cause NDS community was pretty shitty as this :D .
Why am i complaining people want to pirate shit? Cause third worlder who can't spend 15 dollars for a legal game cartridge and needs to stole softwares always shitposts in the wrong section (this ones) about pirate9loader, cfw 9.x,10.x,11.x,12.x,13.x, reinand and all this shit.

I have to agree with this. Using homebrews on the 3ds it's a difficult task for the medium user, it needs a bit of support. Are we giving this support in the wrong section? Yes. Is this mistake hurting the community? I would say no. There is a chance that a user who arrives for support to pirate a game stays in this section and tries our homebrews. A slight chance of course but a chance nonetheless. A chance that we would lose by confining ourselves into an homebrew ghetto dove ce la cantiamo e ce la suoniamo (sorry, untranslable italian expression that Rinnegatamante will surely understand)

there's a lot of manga games (RPG and adventure games) i will put the names here, but those japanese and chinese translated games are fun
turok
keen
hocus pokus
cosmo
galactix
magic the gathering
terminal velocity
Castle of Illusion
donkey kong country 1,2 and 3
blackthorne
the lost vikings
rock and roll racing
jazz jack rabbit
gta
the punisher
Cannon fodder (first one but then with the movie done right, no stuttering)
i really forgot a lot o' game names.... man i wished i remembered them all
scummvm should be on top priority for me since that makes me have at least 40 games to play and tell my nephews and nieces about the good old days: the days the costumer was still importand, the days that programmers had high standards for storylines, the days that greed didn't make most of these companies fail the basics... i mis the games like carmageddon, dungeon keeper, rock and roll racing, the punisher... there's really not that much good games made the last 9 years...

Wonderful news everyone! TheCruel released ScummVM today!

There are over 100 games that are compatible with the original ScummVM. I dont know about how many this port can manage though..

http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility/

Lets try them out and report in TheCruels release thread!

Cheers, Skål, A votre santé, Salud, Zum wohl etc. :D

GTA III(d) anyone? Not a 90s game, but close enough.
Well that is pretty damned cool! Never knew it had an open source implementation... That would be rad to see on the 3DS some day.

I am also keeping my fingers crossed for a Rise of the Triad or Shadow Warrior port! I know the source code for ROTT DS is out there, but I have no idea how to code, let alone port anything. I can still dream though!

It's been in development since 2013 but just now came to light publicly. I love that so many open source loaders and engines are coming out now. It promotes cross-platform gaming and is bringing a lot of classics out of the dark ages of old Windows times.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii

At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
