Sky3DS is easy. You need to have some technical knowledge.

EDIT: LOL @ SD cards being expensive. 64GB MicroSD for $30 is expensive?

EDIT 2: Mods can you just move this to EOF? Heh

Absolutely 0 issues with my legit blue button sky3ds and samsung sdhc cards.

People need to stop using 10 year old sd cards, or trying to save 2 bucks by buying off brand cards, just buy samsung or sandisk

You really do have a problem reading. Either that or you have a total inability to comprehend what I said in my op.

I have TRIED countless times searching the web for SPECIFIC types of roms.
It's piss easy to go onto google, type in "3ds roms free" and be met with hundreds of results, but none of those are what I'm looking for. Most of the roms on these websites are all either US dumps or CIA/digital dumps of games.

Learn how to fucking read a post before hurling your ignorant thoughts at me, you absolute piece of piffle.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Seriously, if you post on this thread about my "apparent" in ability to find a rom then learn how to read. The biggest issue in my OP is regarding the flashcard not functioning the way it's intended, as well as the poor customer service on offer from sky3ds.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I guarantee you you won't be able to find a working Story of seasons EU retail dump download that doesn't have "Want to download in a few minutes? Try our new Premium account!" bullshit.

Thanks for the help, genius.

OMG THIS GUY, I REALLY WANT TO HELP HIM :O

I agree with you on most points, and I think this thread should be stickied.
I'm around here a lot and I constantly see people having various software and hardware related issues with their Sky3DS asking for help. Even if many of those cases are user error, the card definitely isn't as user friendly as people make it out to be, and I've seen a lot of faulty cards as well as a few cases of red button Sky3DSes in blue button shells, although that might be the reseller's doing.

It's clear that the Sky3DS team has very limited talent. They managed to make a cartridge that doesn't need exploits to work, and that's great, but they could not manage to make the cart updatable or remove the 10 game limit until after the community had already done so. The build quality is poor (though this can be said for many flashcarts and that's more a problem with Chinese factories than the team themselves) and there seem to be a lot of issues with the firmware/hardware considering the number of cases I've seen where the cartridge just doesn't work as expected. It seems like this is the extent of their talent, or maybe they just did a poor job at testing and QC before they started mass production. And since the cartridge is not updatable, people with these issues are pretty much screwed unless they can get a replacement.

It's funny, everyone seems to think the Sky3DS is so easy to use and yet I see more people having problems with the Sky3DS than the Gateway (or more recently, CFW). Makes you wonder, are all these people just too dumb to use a flashcart or is the Sky3DS really that problematic? Most of the time it seems to be the latter.
I'm sure it's a great cartridge when it actually works properly, but I'd be very wary of buying it when so many people are having issues.

If a large number of sold Sky3ds are defective you'd have a point. I'm not sure that's the case though. Obviously you won't have many people who have perfectly working carts come in just to tell people that their cart is working perfectly like you will with people who have problems.

A poll of Sky3ds owners to see how many got defective carts would be interesting.

5 Pages later. The long and the short is this. You probably got a bad card. Contact the people you got it from. If that doesn't work? Report to your paypal, or credit card company. Can't pirate roms yourself? Then you probably weren't meant to. Roms are easy as hell to find with a basic google search. I even tried your silly "Free 3ds Roms" and found roms easily. This thread is so much troll bait. >.>

£58 for 3 SD cards is pretty expensive when you're a university student living on a budget.

I'm new to the sky3ds card myself - ordered it last weekend from 3dscarduk.com and it arrived 3 or 4 days later.
I'd recently upgraded from my original, launch day, o3ds to a n3dsxl, and had waited until that arrived to see what fw it had on it before choosing either gw or sky (fw was 9.4  )... system transferred old 3ds to new 3ds (which required fw update) - also treated the new 3ds to a 32gb micro sd, which meant that I'd got a spare 4gb (Toshiba) sd card that had come installed in the new 3ds.
I spent the few days between ordering the sky3ds and it arriving preparing by reading up on it's operation, downloading roms (which was easy - I got probably every game I'm even vaguely interested in playing over the course of a couple of evenings - over 50 roms, predominantly EU but a few jap and US releases of stuff that's not been released here), and even got hold of Powersaves 3ds to rip my private header to apply to the sky template.
I figured out Diskwriter in advance of the flashcart actually arriving, and loaded up the spare (Toshiba) 4gb sd card with half a dozen roms utilising my private header. One of the roms was Cubic Ninja, with the following rom on the card being Rhythm Tengoku The Best (Jap), so I could try out RegionFour (this was a few days before Ninjhax2 was released)...
The card arrived, I slapped in the sd, I went through the initiallising rigamarole... and everything worked fine. It cycled from rom to rom when the blue button was pressed. Everything loaded ok. Games saved fine. Cubic Ninja/RegionFour worked.
The only negative, in my experience, has been a problem with not being able to successfully back up .sav or .bks saves for non-eeprom saving titles (games that do save to eeprom are fine, and Diskwriter backs up and restores them without issue). It was kind of gutting to lose about 6hrs of progress on Pokemon Alpha Sapphire when I found the save file Diskwriter had previously created for it was only 1kb... but we live and learn... although I've still not found a solution to this issue, and have instead opted to just leave the couple of non-eeprom saving games I'm playing as the first two titles on the card and only delete/replace roms after them in the list.

Apart from this one issue, I couldn't be happier with my Sky3ds!

If I had a sky3ds I never would have know about the sd card compatibility because Sandisk is the only brand I buy, why would you want a different brand of sd card?

Pay to download? You're not very good at being a pirate are you?
Samsung is also excellent, have no problems with them at all.

=====================================================

Oh and by the way, if getting ROMs is so hard, that basically means that all CFWs and all other CFW based flashcards are also useless, right?

Where did I state that I had actually paid for these services?

Assumptions are generally the breeding grounds for ignorance and piffle. :)

Sky3DS, a very easy to use cartridge if you have ever burned a CD/DVD. And learn what the LED flashes means to diagnose it in case something's wrong.

That is unless you: Get a defective cart, get a false cart, get a bad SD card, get an incompatible SD card, get a bad ROM, get a ROM together with crapware. A lot of thing can go wrong in other words. And in the flashcard business, good service is hard to get, especially since it's in the black/grey(depends on your country) legal zone. Lots of scammers around here trying to make some money.

And yeah, UK and Northern Europe overall has pretty steep prices even for cheap SD cards, I know. But I can get a 32GB one for about 20 pounds and I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

@Jarrad Sky3ds + 16gb Sandisk (Other mSD brands will work, Sandisk is just more reliable / better quality) less than $80. That's 2 3ds games pretty much.
Even if you're on a budget, that's hardly too expensive for what it allows you to do.

Google .3ds download, second link of results and bam.

All you have to do is research the product you're going to buy before hand and you're unlikely have these problems in the future. :)

basically at this point try to arrange a replacement from your reseller, thats all you can do, insulting/belittling people who yeah, might be a bit antagonistic, but seeing as your OP is full of whinging about not finding roms etc, (which is not really a subject any gbatemp users can help you with anyway) you just came across very cry babyish (which is why people will immediately take a disliking to your attitude)

return your card and check a game exists before crying that you cant find it, understand how business's work, shady backstreet companies will not offer glittery fluffy white cloud customer service with 24/7 help desk, resellers don't offer full romsets....(who is going to pay for all the bandwidth), when your taking part in shady underground s**t expect there to be people looking to capitalize from it, if nobody paid premium they would have zero interest in offering hosting sites for illegal material (do you really think they upload all those games and keep links updated for the warm and fuzzy feeling that some guy gets to pirate a game super easy?), and if sky3DS didn't have their card out you would have no choice at all but to buy every game at full retail price or not at all, you come across very condescending yet fail to realize some of those basic principles of underground business's

OP is blowing this WAAAY out of proportion. Just because he's had a faulty Sky3DS, the Sky3DS team is now the equivalent to the devil, and they are plotting against the world. Probably the dumbest thread I've seen in awhile.

so you think when you bought a flash card, the retailers will give you a unlimited access to download rom ? I will give the retailers +50$ just for that.
if you can't find the rom match your 3ds region, try region4. If you can't find the sd card, try the better one.

Its a trick, he wants you guys to post up where you guys are DL'ing them from. Keep your posts free of info and don't feel sorry for someone who doesn't know how to shop for a legit mSD, don't know how to use a sky3ds, and sucks at googling. Basically too damn lazy to do any kind of leg work.

Got my Sky for under 70$ USD shipped, used a 16GB I got for five bucks, never looked back. Only problems I ever had were with games needing higher than 9.2 and me not wanting to upgrade.

Haven't touched mine in weeks because I want to make .cia files work with my CN exploits, but I would recommend one in a heartbeat to anyone on 9.3 or higher.

I do have a sandisk sd card though, which isn't a fake.
