@mid-kid don't worry too much, i have not been able to re-create the hanging after trying more than 20 times.
I'm not sure but i think it has to do with reading the preferences as, when it did hang, I was selecting and unselecting the various patches and rebooting frequently.

It spits an error to the bottom screen if something goes wrong while reading the config (i.e. it doesn't exist).
Worst case it hangs, but you see console text.
So it's definitely not that.

Thanks you both. Ended up using 2.5. This new menu is very flexible, has all the options i need. The boot speed is blazing fast.
It's also lighter, safer, and easier to compile than other CFW's. Highly recommended.

People, however, are drawn to GUI's like moths to buglights, and that's a shame.

That's weird. Make sure you have the right patches enabled and you boot the CFW using the option in the menu at least once (the configuration is only saved then).

This has taken way too long, but I've finished a new release: 46.
A lot has happened since last release, but not much that's noticeable for the end user.

Have a list of notable new stuff:
  • Autoboot (Press "L" to enter the menu)
  • Cake selection is saved
  • Multiple firmware.bin versions. (see the patches directory)

The patches directory now has subdirectories that contain cakes for different NATIVE_FIRM versions.
Here's a list of all the versions: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Configuration_Memory#NATIVE_FIRM_Versions
For example, the latest firmware.bin (like the one provided by rxTools) is 0x49.
You can remove all the cakes you don't need, place them in a different directory structure and rename them if you want.
If you want to use a different NATIVE_FIRM version, download it from this URL, change the latest two letters to correspond with your firmware version, and rename it as firmware.bin.
For example, if I wanted to run Ninjhax on firmware 4.5, I'd change the latest two letters to "1F", enable the signature patches, and install Ninjhax normally.
Please note that only the latest NATIVE_FIRM can boot the latest emuNAND. Also, not all NATIVE_FIRM versions are covered by our signatures.cake. We're open to contributions, of course.
First first ! thank for this nice FW
It worked simply fine with MSET and with browser both in emunand and sysnad
It is the fastest loading CFW for sure.

The only part i Miss is hwo to launch Ninjhax I can't get it to launch it gives me error message "an error has occured forcing this software to close..."

What am I missing here ? If you can explain it to me please.

For info : SysNAND 4.2.0-9U, emuNAND 9.8.0-25U, Ninjhax installed via PBTCFW+CN.cia installation (working perfectly)

You need an older firmware.bin (how to get it is explained in the post you replied on). Then, boot Cakes with just the signature patches.
I have cubic ninja on a separate SD card, so it isn't much a problem to have a different firmware.bin there, but if it's a problem for you to swap the firmware.bin every time you want to boot ninjhax, use Pasta MSET and reinstall the proper ROP every time instead.
I have no plans for creating a menu for selecting a firmware.bin on each boot, as this feature was mostly meant for the ease of testing on different firmware versions.

New release: CakesFW 50.

New features:
  • Patched firmeware.bin isn't written to the SD every time unless the patch selection is changed (Speeds up autobooting with reboot patches noticeably).
  • Ninjhax support. (Forked Brahma, named CakeBrah. This fork loads CakeHax payloads without having to modify them.)
That's it for today.
I'm going on vacation for 4/6 weeks, and leave b1l1s in charge meanwhile.

Hi, i can't seem to get Cakes to launch via Spider on my O3DS v9.2. Rxtools and Gateway launcher work fine though. Can i check whether Spider is still working?
