Fingers crossed :) I hope that there will be chance to have some homebrews on ARM11 :) But I am very confused about "hacks" on DS/3DS. Work with Gateway? On my opinion this is waste of time. I vote for CFW and use SD card. CFW and better knowing of OS is way better than FlashCard loaders like Gateway. CFW way is thing that we've need.

You can vote all you want but the fact remains it could be a technical nightmare to do it that way.

I read somewhere that FW 5.0 patched the ability to run executable code via the DS Profile stack crash exploit, could be completely wrong about that, but it would limit what he's doing to FW 4.5

Keep up the good work smea!

Gateway team is working on having the "Gateway entry point" working with 6.2.0 (and below).

Where did they say that? I'm not upgrading my 3DS anyways, but it would be nice to have some real hope for homebrew.

Smealum, first off I really appreciate your work. Second, are we talking about Bangi-o for the regular DS, and is there a chance we will need that game for an exploit? I found it at Gamestop for $5. Wondering if I should pick it up, only got that reason.

Yes, it is the Bangai-O for the regular DS. If you have a DS mode flashcard that is compatible with the 3DS, you wouldn't need Bangai-O for this exploit. Smealum uses Bangai-O as it is his only way to run DS-mode code on his 3DS. This exploit involves running some DS-mode code to modify the DS-mode profile of the 3DS in some way, and then you load up the DS-mode profile settings on the 3DS and the exploit happens.

But as has already been said, this exploit is not being released right now, and may not be released at all. There is no point in releasing it at the moment. So don't worry about buying things in preparation for it. Besides, you should be able to find a DS-mode, 3DS compatible flashcard for about $5.

On the other hand, Bangai-O is a nice little game, and IMO well worth $5.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a situation like the psp. When GTA was used as an exploit, it became hard to find, and was subject to price gauging on Ebay.

I wonder if that Power Rangers DS game has anything to do with that hack. I don't physically own that game and I bet it would be a pain to hunt down.

I think that it also work's with a R4 card, he only used bangai-o, because that game apparantly also can pull of the Character Limit Eploit.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
