My daughters each have a DS Lite with DSTT, but too many of the newest games don't work anymore, and firmware support has been pathetic.

If I get them new cards with better support for the latest games (Acekard 2i, DSTwo, etc.), is there any way to preserve their current saves?

The .sav files on the old card can be renamed (if they're not already properly named) to work with other cards. On the DSTWO, just give it a name identical to the ROM, but with a .sav extension instead of a .nds one.

Or if it's about the advanced features, get the Supercard DStwo, it's integrated processor is capable of far more than a CycloDS, like GBA emulation!
Wow, really? Sold.

FYI, the GBA emulation isn't perfect, but pretty impressive.
If you have a DSi then it's your only option, but for DS Lites you should instead get an EZ Flash 3in1, no doubt about that.

I guess I was misinformed, but I thought the DStwo played 100% of DS roms, thanks to "autopatching"? The problem I'm trying to solve is the newest titles not working on the DSTT, so you really think the EZ Flash 3 in 1 is the best DSLite card?

You're confusing DS games with GBA emulation here.
The Supercard can play most DS games without any problems, the DSTT on the other hand has poor software support which is why the newest titles don't work.

The EZ Flash 3in1 is an Expansion pack that fits in Slot 2 (gba slot) of a DS Lite, and can only work if you already have a Slot-1 flashcart like an Acekard or Supercard DStwo.

That being said, GBA emulation is different from playing GBA games on native hardware.
Because the EZ flash 3in1 acts like actual GBA hardware, and works with the GBA hardware of the DSlite, it plays games perfectly.
The Supercard DStwo has the emulate the software of the GBA using its processor, making it not as perfect. Games might glitch, play a little slower, or may not work at all.

I ordered the Acekard 2i. The DStwo has some neat features, but it seems AKAIO has great ROM compatibility and WiFi updates, and the simplicity of AKAIO I think will suit my kids better. Thanks for the help.

Hello

I’m about to buy a DSi XL and I am going to get a flashcard and I’m going to play ds and dsi games on it.
I’m going to use cheat codes, so it need to be able to read a big file and not as the old r4 card, it had a cheat database limit.
I’m going to use a 8 GB Micro SDHC card.

Please tell me what you think. I will not buy a expensive card because I don’t need the stuff like movie watching and snes capability.

I know many people think different in this question, but in the end I do know what cards I don’t should buy.

And I know it much different software’s out there so please tell me what you recommend to what card.

I am 26years so it doesn’t have to be simple to use.

Sorry for my bad English.

Since you want to have lots of cheats but aren't fussed about advanced stuff, it sounds like the Acekard 2i is just what you want.
I have to warn you though, it is currently not possible to play copied DSiWare or DSi exclusive titles.
Any DSi compatible flashcart works in "DS Mode", meaning it will act like an ordinary DS, without any of the DSi enhancements.
It can still play DSi enhanced games, but it will not have the enhancements.

It's not expensive either, it's only $15 at Shoptemp.
By the way, since you have a DSi XL, which is surely on 1.4 firmware, be absolutely sure to order Premium Flashing + Updating service. That means they will flash the Acekard 2i to work on an updated DSi/XL

Hey Guys,
I am looking to buy a couple of flash cards, one Acekard 2i, one super card DS two and one ez flash 3 in one. I live in the USA and would prefer to buy from a US dealer ( i have had nothing but trouble from stores in Hong Kong and will NEVER buy anything from Hong Kong again.)

Does anyone have any suggestions for a US based site to order these from that they know to be reliable?

So there is currently no truly DSi-compatible flashcart?
There are no Flashcarts which can operate in DSi mode. There are also no flashcarts which work natively on the DSi, they all have to impersonate a DS cart such as 'Danny Phantom'.

I have a DS Lite, no plans on getting a DSi / XL.

I want a slot 2 expansion cart to go with an Acekard 2 (with AKAIO). Is the EZ Flash V expansion still the best choice? Is there another cart to get?

I want it mainly for GBA games, RAM expansion and rumble are nice features, but I can probably live without rumble if necessary. It also needs to be matte black (I have the crimson + black DS Lite) and flush in the DS lite.

Hey there, I need some advice
smile.gif

I have a DSi, and I'm looking for a flashcart which will allow me to play GBA roms. Currently I have an M3i Zero, and it fails to run GBA emulators, and it also crashes sometimes when I run DS roms.

So what I'm looking for is a cart that:
* works with the DSi
* runs DS roms without crashing
* has an ability to run GBA roms (through emulation)

No budget limit.

Thanks

You have only like three options xD.
-EX4DS
-SCDS2
-iSmartDS

Out of those three, SCDS2 is currently the best (iSmartDS isn't out yet so its really only two choices at the moment xD).
The best I could recommend would be to either get an SCDS2 or wait for the review of the iSmartDS and then make a decision when its out as well.

He made a bit of a mistake, the iSmartDS doesn't have a GBA emulator.
http://www.ismartds.com/products.html

That means the only choices are the EX4DS, the Supercard DStwo, and the iPlayer (homebrew only).
The EX4DS GBA emulator is barebones, no configuration, not worth your time.
The DStwo's GBA emulator is an improved version of the iPlayer's GBA emulator.

So yeah, definitely get the DStwo if you want a GBA emulator for your DSi. It ain't perfect, but it's pretty nice.
If you want somewhere to buy one, look at Shoptemp, they have it for $35. That's a pretty competitive price, and their free shipping is pretty good.

Asides from GBA emulation, the DStwo plays DS games just fine, and works on the DSi. It also has homebrew potential that other flashcarts don't have, because of an open SDK.

Hi,

I'm a complete noob when it comes to flashcarts. I want to play roms on my NDS, what exactly do I need?

I have a NDS lite and an original "phat" NDS. I have no interest in playing NDSi games. I'll be using them both just to play multiplayer games like Bomberman and Metroid Hunters.

I understand that if I go for the newer flashcarts I'll need a microSD card and an adapter with a cardreader so I can write the ROMS to it.

I'm looking for something cheap, what would you recommend?

Do you need to play many game? Like 20 or more?

20 or More ----> Acekard 2.1
20 or Less ----> R4

Keep in mind these carts are budget carts. If you need more functions (Real-time save, real-time guide, etc.) you should consider EZ-Flash Vi, Super Card DSTwo
