Hi,

I have read a lot about both of these carts, but I still can't decide. There's the raving popularity of acekard vs. the people who actually own a supercard dsone and say it's an excellent cart.

I have a DS Lite, and just want to play games, but more features are welcome. They're both around the same price but isn't the build quality of the supercard better? Is the build quality of the acekard 2i really that much worse (ie will the acekard last years?)? But I've also read that the Supercard can be pretty hard to configure -- is it really that much harder than acekard? And supercard is still officially updated (or will they drop support and move on to dstwo?)... whereas if acekard gets hacked they're dropping support? But how is supercard's compatability? I mean, they say 100% in the specs, but even the r4 says that, lol.

RTG seems nice, but I'm not sure if I'll actually use it, so I'm still open to acekard if people recommend that over the DSone. RTS seems REALLY nice, but does it work and not corrupt? And I do like nice and simple, especially because this ds is mostly for my younger sister (although I'm the one who's going to be configuring it, but I've never owned a flashkart before).

I don't know where to get the DStwo for cheap, so its not up for comparison.

So, which of these two should I get?

Thank you!

Currently both have 100%, I think. The DSTwo isn't even out yet. About half the time Acekard fixes are out first and the other half of the time Supercard fixes are out first.

Thank you for the 100% compatability info tattar8.

Well, I guess I don't really care THAT much about who's fixes come first, I mean, I can wait a week or two.

Does anybody else have any other input?

Oh, really? So basically, I should probably just get the supercard then, right? Because there really seems to be no negatives.

It's just that acekard 2i is so popular, that I thought I might be making the wrong choice

Right, I mean, if I do get the Acekard 2i, I will definitely use AKAIO. But so far, it seems that Supercard DSone really is superior.

I'd go with the Supercard. I like RTS you get 4 slots and it's the only RTS that works well with 3d games. It'll also run many games without an update because of the new clean mode. I have both and if I had to get rid of one it's be the Acekard.

Cool, so the RTS doesn't corrupt? If you were to guess, what percentage of the time does it corrupt?

Also, does the supercard have the wii link feature? I don't need it any time soon, but I'm just stacking features... but if the supercard's rts is solid, then I'm sure that's the card I'm getting, but only if it's solid. otherwise I'll still consider the acekard if anyone suggests why one might want one instead of the supercard.

EDIT:

This thread's poll: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?&showtopi...e=show&st=0
says that most people think that acekard 2i is the best flash cart in 2010... so maybe that really is the better choice?

EDIT 2:

Also, since this is for my sister, I don't want her to have to configure anything while playing. I just want to set up some games for her, and then let her play. Do you need to keep changing configurations or apply patches for different games with the supercard? Or do certain games just plain freeze with either card? Again, I'm just trying to think of negatives before shelling out the money.

Those people rely on Normatt and his team for game fixes. In all honesty, AKAIO has better compatibility that Supercard, but only slightly. The Supercard is built better, it has a LOT of support from the ACTUAL team, and it's new EOS is great to navigate; it's smooth. I've owned a Supercard, but never an Acekard, so my opinion is a little biased, but based on facts, the Supercard does everything better except for game fixes and maybe the UI (depending on tastes). Plus it has more features. It's underrated nowadays because of its old, clunky OS. Trust me, you'll love the Supercard.

No, you don't need any patches or anything with the Supercard. Only for the newly released games (and the nds1pactch goes in the _dsone folder. You'll see when/if you buy it). Every flashcard needs a new update for game fixes though.

You may need to screw around with the SD Speed of the Supercard when you first buy, but after you set it to the right SD speed (depending on your MicroSD), you won't have problems.

Which overpowers which?

Supercard DSONE > Acekard2i

or

Supercard DSONE < Acekard2i?

Don't say you like this Flash Cart because you own it or you just like it because that's the only Flash Cart that you have. That's just stupid and defeats the purpose of this question.

Uncle FEFL: Thank you, you have been very helpful. I just want to clarify something though, and then I'm off to buy a supercard:

"You may need to screw around with the SD Speed of the Supercard when you first buy"

I'm either getting a class 4 or class 6 micro-sdhc (kingston or transcend), so would I need to keep changing the speed settings for every game I play, or would it be a one-time speed setting in the beginning, and no more configuration afterwards?

Also, can anyone tell me how reliable the RTS is on the supercard?

Also, Supercard WILL not drop dsone support.

Heck, they still support their DS slot 2 cards.

I only got an acekard for the wait till ds2 got released

The RTS is very reliable. I have not had any problems with RTS on Supercard for the past...month? There are 4 RTS Slots for each individual game. How to RTS? Why, you must press L+R+X+Y+A+B, simple as that (must run games in PATCH mode in order for In-Game features to work), then press "Save" and pick any of the 4 Slots you want to save in.

I suggest the Supercard. I have both.

1. RTS is great for those lame games where you can't save anytime. Just don't RTS during any WIFI related part of the game, breaks communication.

2. Support comes from the REAL devs. If the AKAIO devs ever throw in the towel the Acekard will be a dead fish with no official updates.

3. 100% compatibility is accurate. For example, the Supercard was the first to have the new Pokemon games running properly.

4. For your little sister, throwing a game guide on when she gets stuck is pretty nice.

Plus, with their firmware writer, you can update it to keep up with DSi updates without needing an older firmware DS.

Only thing I'm not sure on is that Wii support, never tried it. Last thing, for stuff like ingame reboot or cheats, the Acekard uses different key combos like, Start+Select+ Up/Down to turn cheats on and off. But the Supercard has only one button combo, L+R+A+B+X+Y, that pops up a menu to access everything.

Wow, thank you for the response guys. One question that still hasn't been answered though: Will I need to change the speed like Uncle FEFL mentioned for each game that I play (ie do different games need different speed modes if I'm getting a class 6 transflash 4gb microsdhc?). I basically don't want my sister to have to configure anything, I mean she's only 6 -- all I want to do is put all the games in the cart, configure it once in the beginning, and let her go at it for months.

masterdeluxe247: Yes, the acekard is slightly cheaper, but since the supercard comes with a microsd reader and the acekard doesn't, the point really is moot for me. They're pretty much the same price.

omgpwn666: Why though? Everyone says that, but I'd like to know why I should get an acekard over the supercard.

I am R4ymond: Thank you for your input regarding RTS. If it really is that reliable, then that's basically the dealbreaker for me.

Saddamsdevil: Well, that definitely makes sense. I just hope you're right and the supercard won't be phased out!

Analogman: Wow, that was quite helpful. It's nice to know people who have tried both, and like Pliksron, I'm guessing you'd get rid of the acekard if you had to get rid of one. I highly doubt I will ever get a dsi, so I'm sure I won't need the dsi updates thing though, but it is a feature.

Thanks a lot for helping me guys. I was unsure before because not many suggest the supercard while everyone suggests the acekard. But I guess now I know what to do if RTS really is that reliable. Just that one lingering question though...
