Well only forwarder one supports extra arguments anyway

Well weird... adding debug=1 I can clearly see it tries to detect NTFS partition with below extra parameters

debug=1 partition=NTFS1

with some sleeps and so on finally it can launch the game...

but using only

partition=NTFS1

makes cfg. usb. loader stuck...

by the way, it could be a forwarder issue too since sending the loader to HBC like below launches the game instantly...

C:\WIILOAD cfg51b3.dol #SMNP01 intro=0 partition=NTFS1

I used the no intro forwarder and had the following parameters set:
Code:
partition=ntfs1 debug=1
Testing with Configurable USB Loader v50-fat led to a black screen, and a return to the System Menu.

EDIT: v51b3-fat kind of works. It mentions a WBFS/FAT partition (whatever was selected in Crap) was not found, but you can play still the game by manually selecting the partition. (This was regardless of whether "debug=1" was set.)

i tried the 51b3-fat ntfs test as well ... it appeared to have worked perfectly ( crap 2.5 from a previous poster , 2.6 failed )

made channel with crap with partition=NTFS1 parameter with ConfUsbLoader (which that original was overwritten with the newer 51b3-fat update)
and it didnt ask me on the wii to manually select the partition, it automatically found the partition without asking and loaded the game..
(maybe it helped that i had settings.txt on the sd card that told it partition=NTFS and device=usb as well?)

Well, in my case any options supplied at CRAP are ignored and the only way to see what is happening behind the scene is to set debug=1 in config file of CFG-Loader. I did it and found that nothing extra is passed from CRAP except arg[2]: intro=1 (or 0 depends of the forwarder)

And I also found that there is a problem with the forwarders - cfg parameters bg path and theme are lost - it's seen on the screenshot below. The bug is reproducible even when the forwarders are run from HBC without CRAP.

Meanwhile the CFG Loader doesn't loose those options when is run directly from HBC without forwarders. It's seen at the following screenshot

Dudes, as already known 2.6b is borked in this sense... to test the ntfs behaviour please use 2.5b...

I already fixed 2.6b but this NTFS issue is still outstanding so I can't release a new version.

@the : you are using 2.6b right?

check my updated post, i was editing my post as you made that post..

Ill just repost it here:

using 2.5b from that poster earlier in the thread made a successful channel with no issue

made channel with crap with partition=NTFS1 parameter with ConfUsbLoader (which that original was overwritten with the newer 51b3-fat)
and it didnt ask me on the wii to manually select the partition, it automatically found the partition without asking and loaded the game..
(maybe it helped that i had settings.txt on the sd card that told it partition=NTFS1 and device=usb as well?)

i also tried it with the intro=0 parameter and it worked as well with no intro or load up screen.. just stayed on black until the game loaded, so that seems to be working fine as well

Retried everything with Crap 2.5b. I still used Configurable USB Loader v51b3-fat.
  • The "no intro" version still behaved as I described above.
  • The "intro" version functions as expected (NTFS works!). I suppose the "no intro" version should be removed in the next release. ("intro=0" could be added as an argument to disable the intro.)
Tested with and without the arguments "debug=1" and "intro=0".

EDIT: Or not. Testing via Crap worked, but installed channels won't work. Crashed to the System Menu with "partition=ntfs1" and "debug=1". My installed IOS35 had an issue, apparently.

Yes, I used version 2.6b with no success. I overlooked your warning regarding its disadvantages comparing to 2.5b

Today I tried version 2.5b... basic version was producing the error during banner extraction, but I found that this issue was fixed in Crap2.5Debug3, and finally I managed to process all games that I wanted and create the channels, which work like a charm now!

Thanks, WiiCrazy, my son is happy now, and I am happy twice.

There is nothing left anymore to be dreaming about... except a tiny thing, which I mentioned earlier - when CFG loader is launched via forwarders, then its parameter bg_path is set to a strange value builtin, and parameter theme is empty. All these cause displaying the process of loading with wrong colors

Isn't critical of course, but it is incorrect behavior, which looks strange from my perspective
@oggzee, does it work so because you did that with a purpose?

I've been slowly making the switch from WBFS to FAT32, and part of that switch has been getting a new external HD (a 2.5, instead of my original 3.5).

Anyways, whenever I try to launch a FAT32 game for the first time from a Crap channel, it always hangs and resets to the system menu. If I attempt to launch the same game again, it usually ends up loading just fine. I interpret this behavior as the Crap channel not seeing the cfgloader on my FAT32 drive in time, or the game on my FAT32 drive in time due to the 2.5 spinup time.

Is there any way I can fix this? Maybe different parameters on my Crap channels? A specific version of cfgloader? Hopefully not a different 2.5 drive! The only Crap parameters I am using are cfgloader no intro with FAT 1 (on Crap 2.5b), and my Hermes is v4 and up to date. For reference, my 2.5 drive has only one partition (the FAT32 one), and it is a WD Elements 640GB.

It's on purpose.
If doing the direct launch this code that is run after the config is read

CFG.direct_launch = 1;
CFG_Default_Theme();
CFG.device = CFG_DEV_USB;
*CFG.background = 0;
*CFG.w_background = 0;
CFG.covers = 0;
CFG.gui = 0;
CFG.music = 0;
CFG.confirm_start = 0;

The idea is, since it is used for direct loading, looks don't matter but startup speed does, so everything is set to the basic looks. However one could still change these options with additional parameters on the command line...

Previously I had said I wouldn't be making releases from here but still it seems Crap is used most actively in this community... eating my words...

new version available, to fix general partition issue in 2.6b...

download here : http://www.tepetaklak.com/data/CrapV2.7b.rar

Code:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Crap v2.7b =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
14/01/2010 WiiCrazy (I.R.on)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
* A bug in forwarder usage fixed (regarding partition selection and
extra parameter passing)
* NTFS partition selection added for Configurable Usb Loader
forwarders. Now fills extra parameters field and doesn't use
#GAMEID-X syntax.
* Installer wad limit increased to 4MB, added SHA check do detect
possible transmission errors.

@ wiicrazy or wiichopx, can you please add CrapTriiforcemodv23 (by wiichopx) for cios199 to crap.cfg? thanks again!
blink.gif
?!... I already packed the crap.cfg file with the loader some days ago:
QUOTE(wichoxp @ Jan 7 2010, 01:52 AM) CrapTriiforce mod v2.3 for new cIOS199
ph34r.gif
!

Download:
http://uploading.com/files/82c6bf6a/CrapTriiforcemodv23.zip/

How to install:
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Add CrapTriiforcemodv23.dol file into "Loaders" folder from Crap.
- Add crap.cfg file into Crap main folder. You must OVERWRITE the old one.
- Run Crap and make your channel with the loader (Triiforce mod v2.3 + Ocarina (cIOS199)).
About packing the loader into Crap's package... well, that's WiiCrazy's job... just remember:
- Triiforce mod v2.2 = for cIOS 249 rev15 and previous cIOS versions.
- Triiforce mod v2.3 = for cIOS 199 (rev14) with any revision of cIOS249.

So, if WiiCrazy makes a new Crap's package, then there must be both files (v2.2 and v2.3)

See ya!

@wiichoxp : I'll add it in the next release...

@Tyrantm : could you or someone else test this base wad and see if it fixes the video mode change (576i->480p) issue? It uses a modified version of Lemon Man's taiko nand loader... To use, just replace base.wxd under Crap folder with this...

http://www.tepetaklak.com/data/taiko-base.rar

ps: anyway I've tested... it seems to fix the issue..
