A question regarding Sonic and the Black Knight: I'm unable to play this game on my Wii. My specs are:

PAL Wii + Wiikey 1.9g (I think)
Firmware 3.2E
Homebrew Channel installed
Freeloader

When I startup Sonic and the Black Knight, I get a black screen. Does anyone know what steps I have to go through to get this game working? Please be as detailed as possible, because I have been out of the Wii-hack scene for quite a long time!

Thanks in advance!

OK, one more stupid question.

I successfully downgraded my Wii to 3.2U and have the Gamma Loader working perfectly. However, my original copy of MadWorld wants to install an update from the disc before I can play it.

What is the best way to get around this problem? Is there something I can install on the Homebrew Channel that will block disc updates? Alternatively, is there a way to upgrade to something newer than 3.2U that won't break the Gamma Loader? I know there are a number of threads here about safely upgrading to 4.0, but I haven't been able to discern if that will break an already-installed Gamma Loader.

Thanks!

Hey guys, yesterday I decided to softmod my wii and installed the softmii 2.1.1 with a gamma backup loader. I followed the instruction step by step so I don't know what's wrong here. After I got some ISO's I tried burning them using ISOMagic which refused to burn them to a dvd for some reason (every time i selected a Wii ISO, it would say invalid content or something, but works fine with other ISO). Then I tried with Nero and it worked on 8x, so I put it in and the disc could not be read, then I burnt another 1 using 4x, same result. After that i installed some cios34 thing along with another wii and gamecube backup loader, but the same thing still happens, the disc just keeps on trying to load with a blank screen after I start the wii backup channel. So how does one go about diagnostic as to where the problem lies, did i mess up my system by installing softmii first and then other cios installers?

I'm new at this myself, but I think I remember reading that some burning software has trouble with Wii ISOs. I recommend ImgBurn.

install preloader and activate the block disc update hack
if you don't like preloader, get starfall

It's all the same thing, but people tend to call it differently. I'm confused too since there are tons of repacks(they shouldn't be allowed anyway : /) and each one has different settings like 002fix, autoboot, forcepal, forntsc and or something, no idea what they do. And there's SoftChip which works like gamma too.

Gets me really confused when there are some many names for the same thing...

For the best loader, use Gamma Loader with 002 Fix. Easiest way

How can i tell what loader i am using?

I just have a channel called Backup Loader that seems to run all my back ups fine.

I softmoded my wii with the twilight hack using a newbie guide from maxconsole, twas easy.

Also another question while i am at it, do i need preloader or starfall? i have the homebrew channel, iso dumper, gc backup launcher and wii backup launcher, i play on installing the USB launcher tomorrow after i get a new drive.

I really don't want to brick my wii.

Also i can run games from NTSC on my PAL wii but i thought you needed to patch them or use a special program to run them.

Bump for help with this

As long as you stay on your current firmware and use the Launchers to run backups, you don't really need it.

Hi, first post here so go easy on me please. I bought myself a wii the other day and decided to soft mod it, i followed a tutorial and everything went fine (plays backups and gc games).

This is the tut i followed hxxp://www.wiiguide.co.cc/.

The thing is, the more i read up on the wii the less i seem to be understanding. If someone could just take a quick look at that tutorial and tell me if that is the best way to soft mod, and also anything that i might need to change.

When i go to the wad manager in the homebrew channel here is what shows:

cios249.wad
ios16-64-v257-prod.wad
GC Backup launcher 0.2 Donkhe - GCBL.wad
Wii backup launcher 03g wiiish v2 EN.wad
cios249-ios36-rev07.wad

The system is a 3.4E, does this look right and is there anything missing that i need. Thanks in advance

Thanks.

There is no banner for my backup loader so i was just wondering.

How would i go about installing a newer version? just install over it or do i have to uninstall that one. Is the USB iso loader Region free and all that?

If you load it from the Homebrew channel, all you have to do is replacing the boot.dol file with the newest version
And USB loader is region free

I had SoftMii 2.1.1 installed on my Wii and when I went to configure my network settings in Wii settings I updated to 4.0

Can I just load the BackUp Launcher onto my SD card and run backups from the Homebrew Channel through it? Reason I updated was because I wanted to play online, please let me know ASAP!

If you installed 4.0 through nintendos updates then i don't think youll be able to play backups or install wads unless you firts installed ( eeeh whats the files anyone?) but yes its ot a good idea to update to 4.0 without doing some research first!

Hey guys! I now you're tired of having the same questions asked over and over, but the more I read the less I seem to understand...

I have a 3.4U with a 1.9G wiikey installed and I just got a sd loader with a 4gb microSD, meant for VC games only (maybe an occasional gamecube game, as I saw it can be done - but don't remember where).

Since my Wii is already modded, do I still need the TP hack? Do I have to downgrade it? If so, before or after installing the Gamebrew Channel?

OK I have a quick question for you guys.

I have a Softmodded Wii with original firmware (its never been connected to the net and i have never done any updates on it) and the HBC with Gamma Loader 0.3 with the 002 Fix installed. i have an original copy of Tiger Woods All Play 09 but it says i must update the system before i can play the game.

Will it mess my Wii up or bork the HBC/Gamma Loader if i install the update? or should i install starfall or preloader first to stop the update?

thanks for your help!

EDIT: I've just checked the firmware version and its 3.1E if thats any help.

Hello. Its a noob questions thread, so I'm just going to ask away.
I've set up the gamecube backup launcher v0.2 and can run most backups ok, like Tales of Symphonia. My problem is when I try to run Wind Waker. On the compatibility list it says it runs ok, but when I try to start it, no matter what button I press, I either get a black screen, and then it reboots, or I get a dvd read error at the bottom. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I guess this would be the best place to ask this kind of question, so here goes...

If I wanted to get into writing homebrew like usb loaders and other things of the sorts what programs and programming language will I need to have/know?
