If you honestly think Nintendo isn't going to fix exploits that will compromise the security of licensed published work, then you are a naive fool. I would first like state that no-one else has officially validated that Yasu's proof-of-concept is even legitimate, for all we know it's just a well crafted hoax. In addition, a consumer electronics system, be it a PC, game console, microwave, what ever...it never comes perfect and secure on launch, there are deadlines for marketing and delaying can result in losing numbers against competitors. Japan is the like the big beta testing playground for the introduction of new s h i t to the populous. The Japanese don't normally steal DMCA protected material like the rest of you heathens so the security might sometimes be under-looked and I'm pretty confident, If there is an exploit it will be fazed out by the time it leaves the shores of Japan to the rest of the world and if it is not fixed by then, required system updates will make it harder and harder to keep up. For example look at the Wii. Yes there were softmods but most have been deterred by implementing required system updates. Now in order to run unauthorized code, a hardware modification is required, which most do not have the heart to execute after being intimidated with the idea of over 6 difficult soldering points, although it will be good business for me...soliunasm said:"skillfully patches all the loopholes"ReddPaint said:Well if Nintendo skillfully patches all the loopholes (which should have been done out the door IMO), then there is always the possibility for a dual flash-able mod chip to come hit the market, which I kind of hope for, because it will deter most of the little wannabe cut-n-paste coders & newbiez, who don't understand the art of hacking as well as the concept of HOMEBREW, but would rather look for the easiest way to STEAL the hard work of true coders, developers & publishers
"Nintendo"
I'm sorry, do you know who you are talking about?
Unless someone finds a way to fully decrypt the firmware present and future, be prepared to head to RadioShack to pick up a soldering iron!!!
