Yasu, the guy behind YSMenu claims to have hacked the newly released DSi, available only in Japan. See for yourself:

What do you think?

Nintendo got owned again!

Or, that could just be a user made movie on the photo channel or something

Awesome!
I'd love some technical info on that

Looks promising! From his website:

CFW?????????FW????????????jk?PSP??????????
Translated by GoogleDSi to see success in the HelloWorld. Considering all the way ANO. Do you have a real way to try to
It was not me, so I moved. But the public should wait and measures
'd Hate to MAJIKON epidemic. To buy the console for now. ... Do you sell?
I hope to CFW, FW is a bad sign? Jk? What I know is PSP.

All I get from that is Hello World, wait, and CFW. If anyone can supply a real translation that would be great.

We'll see if Nintendo has better luck outrunning the hackers than Sony.

Rough Translation

He says that he borrowed his friends one and was able to perform the hack.
He didn't say how he did it, but says that he did the the same way every thought it might be able to be done...
He also says something about not being sure if he wants to disclose how he did it due to a boom...

He says that the DSi's are all sold out now in Japan. He wants to buy his own to do further testing to make sure the hack works on all DSi's.

He mentions creating a custom firmware

END

WOW

Glad it didn't take too long
And also glad I picked up one on release day

Everyone who has been saying bad things about it hasn't played around with one.
It's a very cool little machine....

I enjoy how quickly systems can be flipped.

But more than that, i love how people bitch when a new system comes out how "Its impossible to hack, i'll never buy it!!!1" when 5 days later, bam. Hax0r'd.

Whoever thinks that needs to get kicked, because in the pirates world, nothing is unhackable. Obviously.

good to see it hacked so soon. I think everyone knew it would be hacked sooner or later ... though ... maybe not like 3days soon LOL.

however, the price is still the biggest issue for me =(

He borrowed one from a friend?

He must have good friends.
I wouldn't lend it to anyone to try out some firmware hacks.
No matter how skillful that person in is.

Now, I'm curious to know if that was made using the SD port or with a flashcard/hardware hack..

I'm thinking a flashcard hack, but am hoping for an SD hack

50 bucks says it's a TIFF exploit using an SD card.
You can see Yasu leaving the photo gallery.
