It might be the BIOS file. You didn't use it before testing GBARunner3 and added it because version 3 didn't start without it. Now, regardless of whether you use version 2 or 3, you still use that BIOS file. If you don't provide the BIOS file, then GBARunner will default to Normatt’s Open Source BIOS.
hmmmm well, Its the same bios I have on my desktop I use for emulation there, I had to get the config folder from the github and that and move it to _gba to get it to work initially, I have bios.bin in _gba, Kinda stumped lol Gbarunner 2 and 3 now both do this all of a sudden (you can find lots of ppl having this issue occur for various different reasons on google, tried some solutions to no avail) - Who would I tag to ask?

A few posts earlier, you encountered issues running version 3 due to a missing BIOS. You added the BIOS file afterwards. This implies that previously, you hadn't used that BIOS (you were using the built-in one). So, I suspect that the reason for version 2 acting up is the BIOS file, as it's the only thing that has changed.

ahhh okay, well I removed the bios file and it persists, What does that mean? lol

No idea. Have you also updated the Twilight Menu for the sake of GBARunner3? Twilight Menu is shipped with GBARunner2 bundled, so maybe they updated the binary lately? See the official changelog.
nawww I just modded this console and it says the last update was a month ago - so i got latest.

That's caused by TWL_FIRM on a 3ds, related to framerate adjustment. I'd recommend to use open agb firm for playing gba games on a 3ds.
how do i switch over from whatever im using to open agb firm? that will fix this i imagine? gbarunner3 does get past the softlock that 2 didnt, so if i could get rid of this, id be a happy camper!

EDIT: Ok so how do I fix the issue? I see this is a luma payload, trying it out right now, but I would like to not have to reboot my 3ds to run games lol Ideally gbarunner3 seems fine, I just dont know how to fix that

There is not really a fix for TWL_FIRM. It's a bug that Nintendo never fixed. And gbarunner2 also caused this issue.

lol so in my googles, its a random glitch that happens from gbarunner cuz of twl_firm and nobody knows how to fix it? gbarunnner2 and 3 both do it now, was playing fine last night, now this - lame! I am using open agb firm and it didnt softlock where runner2 did, so thats a plus! Any ways to launch payloads from an icon on the home screen? lol I understand it would need to reboot for it, would just be easier imo

It's in the patch menu.
ok so it turns out - you have to hold Y starting twpatch, to put it into GBA mode, otherwise you will NOT see that option anywhere! Also, that didn't change anything, I do have the widescreen patch enabled for the ds games, but besides that I spent all day going over my setup and its pretty bone stock. Are there any ways to nuke all traces of gbarunner within twilight menu and start fresh? It used to work, Just doesn't now lol opeb agb firm that the other user mentioned works a treat, But having to load luma payloads to play gba games is pretty lame when I could use your beautiful interface :)

GBA mode is meant for AGB_FIRM, not TWL_FIRM, which is what are you using to run GBARunner btw, sop you should only enable GPU scaling with the default patches, I've just tested this setting and the Nintendo screen tear bug is not happening on my side.

Besides, on 3DS you should be using open_agb_firm instead, as this runs GBA games natively and has 100% compatibility https://github.com/profi200/open_agb_firm/releases/tag/alpha_2023-10-6

am aware as you can see by above, I just think its extremely unintuitive lol Are there any ways to make shortcuts for luma payloads in the 3ds home menu by chance? that would solve most of my complaints xD
