I really don't know since it's physically impossible to connect a 2.5" ide hdd to the ps2 without one. This is the type of adapter you would need. You can see that the physical connections for 3.5" and the 2.5" drives is different.
Now the PS5 isn't recognizing the external HDD and with the former turned on, the external HDD's whistling noise is much more intense and its LED doesn't stop blinking. Is the external HDD faulty?
EDIT: After disconnecting the external HDD's power cord and connecting it back, the PS5 said the external HDD needed to be repaired, so I proceeded with the step. After it endes, the PS5 is now detecting the external HDD again and it's only making the former noise but its LED is still constantly blinking.
EDIT 2: Now the LED alternates between constantly blinking and stabilizing. Maybe it was already blinking before this happened and I only noticed it now, so it might be normal.
