The Wii does everything the Gamecube can, and more. Normally I'd say the Wii U, but the Homebrew and CFW for it are just not even on the same level of badassery as the Wii. For me, the Wii is king.

Who wants a poll saying "What color is your GameCube?"
I have all 3 American colors: Black, Purple, and Silver. (America always gets the boring colors...)

At least it got purple:blink:

I have lots of great memories with the GameCube, but just from a console point of view, no it wasn‘t the best.
I would say either the DS or Wii
True that

I suppose I should trust you and your opinion about Wii CFW and homebrew, since you're an actual Developer and know way more than I do about that topic, but...nah, motion controls suck and the Wii is gimmicky garbage and thus your opinion is objectively wrong, Q.E.D and all that.

No point in wasting much breath on this topic.

No console or handheld is going to be the "greatest" of its generation. One's always going to have better aspects, gimmicks or whatnot, than the other, whether it's games or hardware, when compared to the previous generation.

Sure, you can mine on nostalgia, but at the end of the day, it's just nostalgia and not many people from the current (or even way older) generation is to feel the same.

The question is ambiguous and unspecific.

Mega Drive is best

Why?

Is black, the color of badassery
High Definition Graphics
Blast Processing
FM synth. The console itself is a musical instrument, not just a sampler.
Badass name ~!!!~ MEGA !!~~!! DRIVE ~!!!~
Genesis name taken from Star Trek
Headphone port with volume slider
Backwards compatible
Highly upgradeable
Sega Channel
Comfortable control shaped like a boomerang for when you throw it
Mega Drive + 32X + CD looks like Borg technology
Lock-on technology
Tower of Power on Mega Drive reaches greater heights than any other system
Yellow tabs on cartridges
Instant load times
Does what Nintendon't!

Not nearly. The library leaves a lot to be desired, especially because of poor third-party support in comparison to other consoles of the same generation.

I just want to question why you two mentioned "of its generation" or "of the same generation", when this topic isn't really about generations, but instead Nintendo consoles altogether - quote, "greatest Nintendo system of all time".
That just struck me as odd, really; not exactly on-topic much...

SNES is best, then Gamecube is second best. I can't pick between GBA and N2DS for best portable. Also, the SNES controller to Gamecube port adapter is awesome. Great for the GCN GBA player, as well as Switch and PC using the official Gamecube USB adapter.

Who wants a poll saying "What color is your GameCube?"
I have one silver, one black. Neither is the one I had as a kid though, they were about $30 each (including shipping).

Objectively, the question should be which Nintendo console is the best ONLY considering the games offered specifically for this system. So don't consider Gamecube games for the Wii or Wii U. With that in mind, the Gamecube is solid, but I would still go for SNES.

If you think Gamecube is the best then why not go with the Wii? It has a Gamecube and plays all Wii games as well.
Because the Wii has dysfunctional motion controls as its primary (and, for the vast majority of its library, only) control method, which just ruins the console completely. It had a Classic Controller, and supported the GameCube controller, but neither were used much, to the console's extreme detriment.

GameCube is inherently superior to the Wii. Hell, the Wii and the Virtual Boy are practically equals due to how nauseating both were.
3DS > Switch > DS > Wii U > GameCube > GBA > GBC > Wii, in my personal experience.

tbh I can't really make a conclusion. every consoles had its own pros and cons.

NES and SNES was both legendary and they dominated the market but is kinda old and basic to be compared with future units. Can't deny that it's one of the greatest ones though.

N64 had lots of stunning games and its revolutionary analog control, with games like SM64 and Zelda OOT which literally defined the 3D game controls on console. but it still used cartridges which caused lots of third-parties to move to Sony, and (kinda) low quality for remaining games. This is also the point where nintendo started to go downhill.

GameCube was another magnificent console, With the title: first ever nintendo console that utilized optical media. GC controller is still one of the comfiest one I've ever used, Games were stunning as always, but large amounts of third parties didn't really come back. did they sell well? not really... but It was heavily underrated atm.

Wii is yet another revolution done by Nintendo, followed by DS. It was so revolutionary that even its codename was Revolution(a.k.a RVL)! With its exclusive motion controller, It offered fundamentally different gaming experience from traditional consoles. While it was the best one for light gamers, kids and for family console, It wasn't really targeting for core gamers- since Wiimote wasn't able to give gamere the traditional controlling mechanics, as well as its weak hardware which was basically just overclocked GC. It was very much outdated compared to same gen consoles.

Wii U shows what happens when you take your creativity too far- It was too revolutionary that it flopped so hard. big ass gamepad was useful and served its own purpose, providing another unique experience- but at the same time it sucked. heavy, hard to grab due to big ass screen. hardware was still too weak, and third parties still didn't care.

Now Switch is something new. Yet another creative console- which can "Switch" between handheld and TV console. hardware was remarkably powerful compared to previous ones designed by nintendo. Controller was still kinda weird and utilized motion controls, but this time it was bit more closer to traditional controliing scheme, as well as pro controller which is now compatible with almost every games. but, It also introduced hardware durability issue which have never been in nintendo consoles.

If you ask me, I can't decide the best console here.
