Scummvm lead told me : ¨It is an unofficial port¨ about WiiU port... So i don't give a shit for touchpad feature

For set scummvm on retroarch and wiiu, you need to make a config file .scummvm, i.e monkey2.scummvm in this config file there is just one word : monkey2 (unique short name for each game). This config file you need to put inside the game folder. That way you can open content in retro arch and launch you config file. You can make a playlist like others, scummvm.lpl with the entries pointing on your config file, and your scummvm_libretro.rpx :

sd:/roms/scummvm/Monkey's Island 2 LeChuck's Revenge (Floppy DOS VGA)/monkey2.scummvm
Monkey's Island 2 LeChuck's Revenge (Floppy DOS VGA)
sd:/retroarch/cores/scummvm_libretro.rpx
DETECT
DETECT
scummvm.lpl

Cheers

I try to get persistent shaders presets per core, but i can't. I tried playing with config files., like get overrides settings per core etc... Someone could get a hint ?

I'm not sure is this was explained before (I tried searching the thread), but is there a way to manually rebuild the unofficial RetroArch Channel with the latest version of RetroArch? This would be useful if there are ever any updates to the menu or improvements to load times, etc.

My understanding is that it's not really a 'forwarder' but actually has the program saved in the channel itself, so it would be stuck at whatever version it was when the channel was made. I know that I can just start the latest version from the Homebrew Launcher, but having it on the main menu would be much more convenient.

Have USB controls been put back into the latest versions?

After much faffing around I've managed to install the old 1.6.9 version that recognises USB controllers straight out of the box. (Well, my M30 8bitdo pretending to be a Dualshock 4)

The thing is, 1.6.9 is prone to crashing a lot.

And I think Genesis GX is dead, all I get is System or USB memory errors.

No ffmpeg cores yet?
Also, I see they bounty for PSX dynarec went up to $315 recently.
And from the site:
"The Linux/Android portion of the project is getting close to completion, while the Windows part has kinda languished. Therefore, we have made the decision with the current dynarec bounty coders that we focus right now primarily on Linux/Android for an initial release, which hopefully can happen around the end of January. We think that once it’s in people’s hands and results are satisfactory on Android/Linux that the Windows issues can be sorted out from there on out. With CPU-bound games, performance should be roughly 2 times faster.

We are currently assembling testers on our Discord to put the dynarec on Linux to the test."

Hopefully 2020 is year we'll have good PSX emulation on Wii U?

Wii U retroarch has been going slow lately there. Hopefully more developers will be interested.

If there was sufficient interest I believe we could see a dreamcast core as well. Since that console emulation is now advanced enough (reicast, redream, flycast).

It's pretty sad knowing that PSP is possible but we will never see it fully realized.

And if PSP is possible, Dreamcast should be possible too.

Btw i see shader talk over here. Are shaders finally publicily available?

Sooo... the forwarder doesn't work/fails with current Retroarch versions?

@Osakasan I don't think they are saying that it fails as a whole rather than its based on an older build and some updated cores won't work on it.

An damn....Dreamcast would be amazing because that would mean having ALL my favorite 90's fighters finally on one console.

The channel does work with newer versions. And I may be wrong here, but my understanding is that the RetroArch executable is included in the channel itself. Can anyone either confirm or deny this? I don't want to cause any confusion, I'm just asking.

Also, either way the RetroArch executable (whether launched from the channel or from Homebrew Launcher) will load the cores from the SD card. So those can definitely be updated with each version. I mainly wanted to know in case any of the menu updates improved load times or added any features.

Hi guys. This seems to be the right place to ask, what is currently stopping the wii-motes to act like pointing devices (cursor emulation) in retroarch for the Wii U? I was hoping for some light-gun game action!

Well it wasn't present yet on the two last updates and I haven't seen any Wii U dedicated updates yet unfortunately on the newer versions so its one of those features we'll have to wait on still. :/

Has anyone been able to get Wii Us Genesis GX core to unluck cheevos propely yet or is it still broken ?

Broken as in the acheivments dont trigger at right time in roms e.g Altered Beast on Mega Drive wont unlock cheevo when turning into a wolf. Same romset unlocks cheevos fine with all roms on my Mega Drive Mini.

I would stick to the megadrive mini if it works with no problems there.

I had to turn cheevos achievents off about two versions ago because you are right, it is somewhat broken. I can't load up Super Mario All Stars + Mario World without an immense amount of lag and freeze if I have it on (last time it took about 6 minutes to load) and then after the cheevos list loads entirely you are playing through and it lags about 5 seconds when you complete an acheivement. Then for other games like Megaman 7 and DKC2 it won't even recognize/record some of the acheivements no matter how many times you do it right.

@ Maxbeta
I've not had issues with other systems cheevos on wiiu I do get slow down on initial rom startup and the few seconds delay when cheevos trigger but thats not too bad of a deal. On snes cheevos for Supe Mario Kart and others seem to work time on Retroarch 1.8.2.

I'm off now to test Megaman 7 and Donkey Kong Country2 now you said that, will let you know.

EDIT: Your right about Super Mario All Stars + Mario World lags alot until you get to the game select screen then works fine. Also checked Megaman 7 and it triggered 1st cheevo for taking out mad grinder fine.

I'd use the megadrive mini over wiiu but it doesn't have enough power behind it for shaders and without curvature and scanlines I just cant play

I'm stuck, I copied the files to my SD, all the cores show up on the HBL, however I can't launch Retroarch by any means, I've tried the channel and it just sends me back to the home menu, trying to launch any core gives me the "Not enough memory" error and trying to launch the main app from the HBL returns me to the HBL, and it happened on 2 Wii Us, so I think there's something wrong with my file paths but I don't know where. Any suggestion? thanks in advance.

I would re-download and also grab the assets folder from the nightlies on the website. They don’t include it with the rpx download and you’re kinda fiddling in the dark if you run retroarch without it and its a pain in the ass. The assets folder path should be sd:/retroarch/media/assets
Best of luck!

On a side note I downloaded and updated to the 1.8.4 Jan 21 nightly and it seems that Snes9x standard core has taken a beating SPEEDWISE. Off the bat my older settings with StarFox which were fine where now stuttering badly so I had to delete them and make new settings but the stutter was now much less but still present. I could manage a steady 60fps with smooth FX acceleration up to 200% on 1.8.2 retroarch but now I cannot seem to hit that benchmark for whatever reason.

Nonetheless, I can confirm XMB menu running smoother on 1.8.4 and also experienced less wait upon loading games when you are still on the same core. When crossing to other cores there's still a pretty big load time and the usual black screen ui crashes after crossing cores only for a couple few games.

Also GOOD NEWS! It looks like the PSX Dynarec finally got a public beta release on a few platforms like Linux and Windows. Hopefully this means we'll have better Playstation emulation for the Wii U sometime soon?

Yes we all hope to get a proper PS1 emulator! Hopefully RA devs still care about the WiiU :D

Is there any way to use the Sameboy core's 2 player gameboy link mode to have only one game show on the TV and the other to only show on the Gamepad? If not, is there any way that this could be implemented? I love that we can load 2 Gameboy games at once. Me and my buddy are going to go back and play Red and Blue at the same time with the Wii U, but it'd be really cool if just one of us can play with the whole TV and the other can just play on the Gamepad. Having them both play side by side is fine, but it is less than ideal.
