There is as you should do when following the guide.
Here is the guide to set up the partition:

https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/user_guide/emummc/partitioning_sd/
That doesn't at all explain the purpose of the second partition. I got Emunand to boot (I confirmed it by using a unique console ID for normal nand and then emunand) but I was unable to access my second partition with Goldleaf.

Ohhhhh I have to have the second partition unformatted. Interesting.

Hi All- I used SX installer to install a bunch of xci files to system memory and my SD card as I went away on vacation. I usually play XCIs from USBHDD, always docked. Been on airplane mode since CFW about a year ago. System was on 6.2 and had used Choidujour NX a few months ago to get to 7.0. Have had no problems until now:

Several 1st party games I installed as XCI are now giving me “software update required” pop ups. I’m assuming this is a ticket issue? Should I find all these tickets and delete/reinstall them? Or would folks recommend I just update to 8.X as an easier solution? Can anyone help out?

Thanks!!

I just updated to 8.0.1, I would do the same. Although update files are also out there..

I've recently attempted to run Atmosphere on my Switch. I followed this guide up to the point of launching Atmosphere. Whenever I attempt to do so, I get a black screen after the splash screen. It usually requires a few minutes of waiting and plugging the console into a power source to get it to boot again. I'm not sure what I need to do to successfully boot into Atmosphere. My console is an unpatched unit with 4.1.0 FW. I do know my SD card is in exFAT rather than FAT32 and my console never received the exFAT update. Would this cause the issue?
Yes, reformat the SD card to FAT32.

I got a couple switches. One was never powered on. Is there a way to safely check the FW? Do I need to go through some procedures or can I just power it up and check the system menu?

Basically, are fuses burned on first start up or only on boots that occur after an update to the OFW?

Thanks.
I'm not sure if fuses are burnt on a Switch that has never been powered on. Nintendo may burn the fuses before it leaves the factory. You have one shot to check if fuses are burnt already or not. If you can boot into RCM and subsequently Hekate, you can check if any fuses have been burnt but if you do not boot into RCM, you risk burning the fuses.

I'm getting the "A controller update is available." popup.
I haven't modified my joy-cons.
If I update them, can I still use them if I downgrade my Switch back to 3.0.0?
It would be silly for Joycons to be locked to certain firmware versions after updating them because that would prevent you from using them on other console's such as your friend's whose Switch may be on a lower firmware version than yours.

I'm on firmware 7.01 with SX os 2.8 with autorcm installed, is it safe to use ChoiDujourNX to update to 8.10? Is the program compatible with SX os or do i need to switch to another CFW to upgrade?

Thanks.
All CFW support firmware 8.1

I used my SD on my macbook and now the files i added are not useable, even deleting them and adding new things on Windows has seemed to have messed it up, I read someone here ages ago had a way around, maybe System volume information or something? thanks!
The only fix that I am aware of is formatting the entire SD card.

Guys, is there something that works like the old emulators "Save State" thing?! I am playing Dead Cells and wants to freeze the game in the state it is now (build, weapons and game progress), so if I die I can somehow start from that point I saved... I don't know if just backing-up with Edizon and pasting it back should work, so before I lose the game on the state it is now, I want to be sure :-)

I just bought a switch and I want to hack it but the only thing I have is a 2gig micro SD card. Can I use this just to see if I can do it or will this cause problems later when I switch to a bigger SD?

I am having trouble connecting to the Switch FTP server. Filezilla always says timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity. I put the Switch IP adddress correctly with port 5000. Anyone know why this is happening?

CFW requires an SD card that is at least 8 GB in size.

is there a way of transferring files between PC and switch without having to turn off the Switch and then go back into RCM etc?
Look up nxmtp.

Hi! I have a "clean" Switch (never had cfw on it) which is on firmware 4.1 and i want to create an EmuNand with SX OS. Should i do the update to go to 8.1.0 before creating the backup of my SysNand or should I instead create the backup at 4.1 then update my SysNand after? Thanks for all! (and sorry for my english, it's not my first language :P)

Hi, I'm a new member here, and I've run into a problem while updating firmware on my SX Pro Switch.

I previously used ChoixDuJourNX to upgrade to the 6.2 firmware, and it worked without any problems. As part of that process, AutoRCM was enabled on my device. Since then, I've been having the typical issues with AutoRCM--not powering down properly drains the battery to the point where the only way I can get the device going again is to use TegraRCM GUI to inject via USB the "payload.bin" file that's been provided on several sites that explain how to recover from this issue. But that's not my current problem.

I used ChoixDuJourNX to upgrade to the 8.1.0 firmware tonight, and the process seemed to go smoothly. I selected the ex-fat version, and everything installed without errors. When I hit the reboot button, my problem started. Presumably because of the AutoRCM, hitting reboot rebooted the device, and then all I got was a black screen. I connected my switch to my desktop via USB, and used TegraRCM to inject the payload again. This time, the SX OS red and black splash screen shows up for a second, then TegraRCM shows that my device is disconnected, and I'm left with a black screen. The only thing I can do now is hold down the power button+vol(+) for several seconds, after which TegraRCM shows my device again. I've tried injecting the other default payloads that come with TegraRCM, but nothing is working.

How can I recover from this? I'm happy to provide any other info you might need to help diagnose this. Thanks.

I made the same mistake.

Once you are able to boot atmosphere, follow the tutorial again to downgrade to 8.0.1.

Dont bother with 8.1, gold leaf doesnt install a bunch of games with the 0x234c02 error.

Yeah but you never know, right? It's of Nintendo's interest to have everyone on the latest firmware.

Hey guys i'm new here and i have a question i need some help with:

so i have a cfw running (atmosphere) for about half a year now, i have a Nand backup from 8.0.1 and have my switch in airplane mode since then. recently i updated via Choi to 8.1. so far everythings fine. i wanted to use incognito now so i could use a browser and update nsps through tinfoil, not to play games online or use the eshop or something like that so i wanted to know if i have to restore my clean nand backup first or if i could simply delete my sd card stuff and do it that way. i had some games installed onto my system storage but deleted them again, so i don't know if that is a problem? thanks in advance

Thanks so much! I managed to get Atmosphere injected and running. What tutorial are you referring to for the downgrade?

Depends. If you want emuMMC to retain the save data from your sysMMC, then restore the backup after you create the emuMMC partition. If you want emuMMC to be clean, then restore the backup before setting up emuMMC.

...except we do? I have downgraded all the way to firmware 1.0 and my Joycons were working fine although I don't know when was the last time I updated them.

I mean the whole point of Incognito is to let you use non-Nintendo-related online services without fear of getting banned so unless you don't want to continue using CFW, you do not have to restore the clean dump.

Sorry, I'm not sure to understand. What u mean by MMC? (again, english is not my 1st language).

From what i understand, since all CFW support last firmware official update, i should go on 8.1.0 on OFW BEFORE creating the clean Sysnand backup (never used the Switch so far) since there's no advantage to have a 4.1 backup then create the EmuNand after?

Thank you for your help

The Switch runs off of an eMMC. Rather than me explain it, you can just look it up on Google. emuMMC is a hack that clones the eMMC and runs it from an external location such as the SD card. TX calls it "emuNAND" but the Switch does not use a NAND chip so the name is highly misleading. Anyway, there are advantages to having a firmware of 4.1 For example, firmware 4.1 has access to Deja Vu which is an exploit that doesn't require the use of a jig or USB cable to boot CFW but rather a network connection. There may be more exploits released for that firmware version in the future which do not facilitate the need for a jig and USB cable making a 4.1 backup very useful. Lastly, you can update emuMMC to the latest firmware after creating it with a homebrew application called ChoiDujourNX.
