Hey Guys,

i have a modded Switch since Release. This console was never online since SX OS came out. Had created a EMUNAND on SD Card (not via partition) and was running fine the whole time. Now i bought a Switch 2 and my son used it online a lot. Yesterday he asked me, if he can get the old switch. I discussed it with him, and told him, that he can only boot it with a dongle and so on. Now i have read a lot about OFW and that you can play all your legit games online in OFW. So now i dont want to get rid of the emunand because there are a lot of savegames, etc.
How secure is it if i have the EMUNAND on SD Card? i mean also OFW can read those files - should i migrate the emunand to partion-based emunand? are there any tools out there for migration? is it more secure to have it partition based then on filesystem?

thanks for your help in advance.

It's safe to use OFW as long as you not try any cfw stuff on it. Just get another microsd for kid and setup atmosphere to boot only in ofw if you worried. Or disable it on current microsd.
Not get it why he need switch 1 if he have switch 2. There no new games that s2 not support

yeah never did any cfw stuff on ofw, only concern was that the ofw could possibly read the sd card content and checks that there is a emunand - i mean its nintendo so everythings possible.

the switch 1 has his save files on it - and i didnt want to risk anything on my switch 2 so he uses atm the switch 2 for online play and switch 1 for offline play with his save files. the switch 1 wasnt used till yesterday because of the newer console but he asks me if he can get the switch 1 because its not in use anymore :P and i couldnt say no ^^ first i wanted to restore my nand backup but wasnt sure if i did it on fw 5.x or older firmware. atm on ofw is 5.x installed and if i restore the nand backup and its older i would have a problem because of burned fuses

Does he played on ofw or emunand? IF in emunand, there no saves in ofw.
If your fuses burned yeah, restoring backup you can and boot in it - but no point then. First you would need to update from game cards to fw where fuses burned or higher (to not connect to nintendo servers). Second you would ask for ban from nintendo, because saves played after backup and console would say you not played games that time.
