Hello
So yea, the switch is already 2 years old
Thats almost half the lifespan of a console generation
Switch is considered as gen 8
But personally, i consider it as gen 9 along with xbox one x and ps4 pro
I know the last two are just upgrade of gen 8 console like new3ds, but still
So... we should expect a new Nintendo console around 2022-2023
What do you expect as new hardware?

Personally, id like to see something similar as a previous rumor about Project NX
The Fusion Project, maybe you remember?
In short, it was two consoles
An home console called Fusion Terminal
And a portable one, called FusionDS
In my dream, Fusion Terminal and FusionDS have connected games
As in if you have both console, you can unlock some features in some games
Probably mainly in first party games

The Fusion Terminal would have very high specs
While the FusionDS will have switch similar specs with ds/dsxl size

What are your expectation for next nintendo console?
As you may have seen, Nintendos console arent purely just a classic controler, a console and some wire lately
Wii had motion consol remotes
Wii u had a pad that can transform the console in a close ranged portable console
Switch is the very first hybrid console and have more advanced motion control

So? What are your expectation for 2023?

The Switch was not the first hybrid console. Neogeo X in 2012 was a hybrid. And there probably was some more even before then that I can't remember this late at night lol.
Oh really?
Was Virtual Boy hybrid too?

My expectations for 2023:
Nintendo runs out of gimmicks. It continues selling a very tired-looking Switch (now on the cusp of its third major hardware revision). Different sizes of Switch are available. 4k is everywhere now but Nintendo ain't playing.

Sony re-enters portable gaming while continuing its lead with PlayStation 5. If I'm still alive, I'll continue to request millions of gamers around the world be given the choice to go 100% wired when gaming on the TV...a choice that was taken away from us in console land some years ago (constant bluetooth radiation) https://ehtrust.org/science/peer-reviewed-research-studies-on-wi-fi/

Sega Nomad was probably the first real hybrid. Its fair to say that Switch is the first successful hybrid though.

By the time of Switch 2 I think other platforms will be pushing heavily into streaming and downloads. Cinematic action games will get tweaked to be even more tolerant of input lag. Nintendo will be the last holdout for physical games running on local, portable hardware, which will differntiate themselves enough from the competition.

They'll probably make a new Switch revision or a Switch 2, based on a more powerful Tegra generation with backwards compatibility. It will most likely feature a 1080p screen and a way beefier battery, while having less power consumption. It should be backwards compatible with the old dock (and vice versa) with a bundle without the dock for previous Switch owners. The dock will also have 4K output with 2 USB-C 3.1 ports. And it will have Bluetooth headset support.

The Wii/DS/PSP/360/PS3 is Gen 7, that makes the PS4 (Pro)/XBox One (X) Gen 8 and the Switch Gen 9.

I think the next console will likely be a successor to the Switch. They have found something that sells so it only makes sense to continue the line of hybrids. I would like to see them also release a more powerful home console to compete with M$ and Sony when it comes to specs, but I doubt that'll happen.

I'm expecting something very similar to the current switch. Probably a bigger screen and more powerful hardware. Why change a winning formula?

Personally I don't think Nintendo needs a new console.
They only need to stop thinking the way they do, like:
"Hey, let's build a new awesome console, release only a new Mario game...
...............and bring ALL the OLD library to it... AGAIN!"
I'm tired of remakes... deluxe versions... compilations... virtual retro games... this makes me sick.
The only "new" (and wonderful) game was Odyssey.
we need games! not consoles!
