Hacking Can a Wii U with homebrew load my backup games from another Wii U which has the official firmware?

Hello, I've been digging up information all day today, and I have a couple of questions :P

1. Say if I have 2 Wii U consoles, with console A as my main one, running the official firmware 5.5.2, and console B on homebrew. I backed up a digital downloaded game from console A to a USB device using the data management option, is there a way I can plug that USB device to my console B and just run the game from there? (In the case of a physical disc game, I've backed up my saved data (again from console A), and can I plug that USB device into console B, load the disc, and continue to play?) Is there an app that lets me do that?

2. What if I wish to be able to transfer my games and saved data freely between the 2 consoles, from A to B and from B to A at any time. I'm willing to do backups regularly, so that if one console suddenly dies on me, I can still continue playing on the other one, and most importantly, without losing my saved data (yes I know there are "normal" ways to do that with Nintendo, and I've given it a lot of thoughts, I even called their customer service but let's say their solution is "unreliable" at the best).

It looks like I'd need Haxchi CFW to achieve that? But then to be able to copy and dump the game data on another console, I seem to need more tools like "Loadiine", "SaveMii", "DDD"....I just feel confused at this moment.

I don't need DLC, game updates, playing online or new games. I'm content with what I have now but I really can't afford to lose my saved data on which I spent countless hours.

Please help me out, thank you :)

Can't share a Wii U USB formatted hard drive between two systems. They are locked to whichever Wii U formats the drive. Sorry.

Yes you can share saves between systems but you have to use homebrew to do it. I use saviine but many use savemii too

Hi, Kafluke, thanks for the reply. Btw that tutorial you put together is invaluable, best guide I've found :)

I understand you can do that if it's saves. Now what if I want to transfer a whole game between 2 systems like I do with the saved data? I ask because I also have a game from digital download, and the game has no physical counterpart. In this case it's pointless to just backup and transfer the saved file(s), I'll need to "transfer and share" everything (game + saved data), preferably to the system flash drive.

Is it possible to do that?

I saw some apps like WUDdump, DDD and ftpiiu? Those seem to dump the whole thing (game + saved data) onto your PC, but I'm not sure after that, if you can load it onto a different Wii U and play.

It's easier to just use Wii U USB Helper and download the game for system number 2. Dumping it then converting it and reinstalling it will just take longer

Thank you very much for the help, Kafluke.

I just went to do some more research and got USB helper up and running. I think I have a clearer picture.

1. Follow your guide and get the Haxchi HBL and then the Haxchi/Mocha cfw running (only with one of these cfws is it possible to run DLCs and will you have access to all the apps)
2. Install USB helper and download the game you wish to backup and put it onto the SD card
3. Add the app Wii U WUP Installer Y Mod to the SD card
4. Insert the SD card into the console (in my case it would be System #2) and initiate the installation process. Note that it's safer to always first install it onto an external USB device, and then move it to the console's internal flash drive through Data Management if you want. At this time both systems have the game, except System #1's game is directly from eShop, and System #2 's game is from USB Helper and needs the cfw to run.
5. Backup the saves from System #1 using Saviine or SaveMii to the SD card, and restore it onto System #2 (doesn't matter if the game is from eShop or USB Helper and installed in a cfw, they can backup and restore the saves, right?)

Done

I hope I'm not missing anything? ^_^

Side note: Just what is this USB Helper, I don't understand how it can provide download from Nintendo's eShops?? With even faster speed? That's like digging up another tunnel into their server system....
