Please help a noob!

I'm sorry if I'm asking a really obvious question here, but frankly, I'm all lost lost in the myriad of exploits despite researching this topic for well over an hour now today and looking into the sticky threads above. Softmodding my Wii years ago seemed to be much more straight forward!

I'm looking into getting a second hand Wii U Basic. I'd like it to be able to run backup games from USB/SD card and access online play and DLCs as well.

Could someone please be able to point me to the right direction and to what method to use?

Thank you!

Don't follow it. Don't look at it. I'm tired of explaining why.
You have my redNAND-free guide [in my sig], WiiUBrU guide [also in my sig] and Kafluke's Noob Guide. Follow these please

Thank you for the help. I have a new question though, are these methods NUSGrabberGUI compatible?

Wii U USB Helper is a NUSGrabber but even better and it works! It also has very friendly GUI so you will not get lost.

Thank you, Wii U USB Helper was the first one I tried but "that site" seems to be offline so I couldn't get it to start up properly.

You sure you didn't put 3DS one instead of Wii U one? That Wii U one is always online.

It's up to me. Google 'Wii U title keys' and click on first URL.
Weird, that's what I've been doing, and checked just now. Server is down. Tried on my cell phone too from my mobile connection, same.

Anyways NUSGrabber seems to be working, if nothing else.

Or MattKimura's guide
Thanks for the help, I'm about to finally get my Wii U tomorrow. Would any of these be better or safer to use than the others?

You can check those all 4 and see if you liked one, if you did, then follow it.

The key site does in fact 'go down' quite often. Actually the site itself doesn't go offline but trying to fetch the auto generated titlekeys.json doesn't always work. Source: I'm the author of FunKii-UI and almost every 'bug report' that I get is because the json could not be fetched. Wait 5 minutes and it usually is working just fine again.

Can I brick my Wii U if I install an out of region Nintendo 64 eshop game from Wii U Usb Helper, or is it safe to do?

If you dont have it set up properly then the out of region game will simply not work. You won't brick

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.

He ruined it basically. Sad cause it was a decent old bike. It would take more money to rewire the bike than it was worth tho.
