Thanks, this does help, but I just checked my wii and i'm on 4.2 What now?For system version 4.3:
http://please.hackmii.com/
Input your MAC address into the website (which can be found in Internet > Console Information in Settings), complete the reCAPTCHA, cut the red wire, and then download. Extract all content to the root of a clean SD card (that can be up to 32 GB), and then put it in your Wii console. Turn on your Wii, go to the Message Board, go back 1 or 2 days and you should have the Letterbomb exploit message appear. It is quite straightforward from there how to install the Homebrew Channel and BootMii.
If you want to add some homebrew applications, just go to http://wiibrew.org/ and find some homebrew. Make sure to extract the contents to /apps on the SD Card.
Hope this helps.
You can perform a Wii system update in the settings, though I am not entirely sure if it still works or not, so you'll have to check. Thanks, this does help, but I just checked my wii and i'm on 4.2 What now?
If OP wanted to, he could update to 4.3 over the internet first and then use Letterbomb. You can perform a Wii system update in the settings, though I am not entirely sure if it still works or not, so you'll have to check.
You can try Bannerbomb v2 exploit on 4.2 - https://bannerbomb.qoid.us/index.new.php (a HTTPS validation error will appear at first, although you should be able to dismiss this). I don't have a v4.2 Wii, so can't test on how this works.
Ill try updating. If OP wanted to, he could update to 4.3 over the internet first and then use Letterbomb.
Thanks for all your help guys, the system update seems like it is working alright.Cool. Hope it all works out for you.

Sorry, one last question, on the letterbomb site, do I need hackmii?Cool. Hope it all works out for you.

Yes, you need the hackmii installer. Put the boot.elf onto the root of your SD card.Sorry, one last question, on the letterbomb site, do I need hackmii?
Ok thanks. I'm surprised there is no definitive guide for this yet.Yes, you need the hackmii installer. Put the boot.elf onto the root of your SD card.
After it's updated to 4.3, here's what you should do:
What you do after that is up to you. Those are the basics.
- Use Letterbomb to install the Homebrew Channel and bootmii as an IOS. If it gives you the option, you should also install bootmii as boot2.
- Install Priiloader.
- Install the d2x cIOS as IOS249 (base 56) and IOS250 (base 57).
There are plenty of guides out there. ModMii is also a recommended option.Ok thanks. I'm surprised there is no definitive guide for this yet.
I wasn't aware of this. What's wrong with r53?if you follow completesg website, please don't follow ALL of it.
at the step where it tells you to install custom IOS (cIOS), which is the most important part in hacking the Wii if you want to play games from USB, you have to do something else.
what it tells you :
install d2x v10 r53
what you should do :
install d2x v10 r52 instead.
that's all, follow all the other things, but don't install r53. latest is not always better.
