Yo!

I accidentally fucked up my Haxchi so I started downloading purchased Super Mario 64 DS from nnu-patched Nintendo eShop and I had correct DNS servers set to block Wii U Update. But now the Wii U Update is in queue and prioritizes over SM64DS and it won't download it even if I choose "Download first".

BrowserHax still works, so I went to Homebrew AppStore to check if any app there could remove the failed update in queue? Is there any payload or Homebrew app online that can remove the Wii U update from queue? Thx for help!

The solution to this is to unplug the system from the back (Not the wall outlet) while it's still on, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in and turn it on. Now your download will resume like normal.

HOLY MADDAFAKKING SHIT, IT WORKED! :D Thx alot :D

I went to Download Management and unplugged it from behind, waited 10 seconds, plugged it back in and started and the annoying failed update disappeared.

Have a freakin' sweet weekend, man! ^_^

I never unplugged it nor waited 10sec.
I just shut it down (fully, I never used the standby/quick boot feature).
on next boot, the pending and failed update attempts is gone, and the download starts.

maybe I always had luck, and some users have to wait or unplug. but in my eyes, unplugging and shutting down is exactly doing the same thing if you don't have standby enabled : it shuts it down and reboot fully on next power on.
I don't know if you can force a full shutdown while you have quick boot option enabled, so unplugging is probably the fastest solution.

That's a GREAT idea! Since by default every Wii U has standby function enabled, this must be why when people try powering off and back on, the update doesn't disappear.
To me Standby is a useless feature, might as well get everyone to disable it in the process of getting their DS VC to download properly. I'm gonna edit the guide I put up

I disabled standby/quick click menu while I was on redNAND. on redNAND, funny things happen with the leds if standby is enabled iirc. I never turned it back on since I'm using cbhc, and I also have loadiine, the homebrew launcher, and wup installer installed as channels, so there's no reason to use it. lol

I tried this but the failed System Update download always comes back. I use both the DNS servers mentioned in wiiu.guide and I have the update folder deleted using ftpiiU. Somehow it knows that an update is available. If we can delete that, the DNS servers should block it from re-appearing.

Edit: I don't need to download something, I just want to get rid of the box with the red X and the nag screens.

it doesn't mean it knows there is an update, it just can't check if there is one (if you have DNS or any other blocking URLs methods), and the error is preventing other downloads in the queue to continue until "the network works again".
the console think the network doesn't work, so why bother trying next download in queue?

What you have to do is shutdown the console (completely, not in standby mode), and next time you boot it will start downloading the game's update/eShop download before checking the network for a firmware update.
the firmware update check is not done on every boot (seems like it's done only on regular basis, not at every boot), you just have to select a profile and go to download queue before the console checks for update again.

The red x is normal. It means your blocking is working. Red x is a good thing. You can't get rid of it unless you unblock.

So after leaving my Wii U unused for a while I looked into the scene and decided to go CBHC but ran into the problem listed here when trying to get Brain Age. Did exactly what you said, and now I can continue. Cheers!
