The 3DS Homebrew section have a post like this, so i decided to start a Wii U one.

Goal : Community give to developers ideas or suggestions of homebrews or exploits to develop.
Seems easy yeah but may be useful.

Post Restrictions :

- Don't ask for IOSU or another coldboot or game save based exploit but you can give here, in the comment, some tips or some idea about exploitable stuff
- Don't ask for something that has been already made...

Before you ask USB support for Loadiine, here's some Kernel restrictions : (What you can't do)

- USB/UHS Support
- MCP Manager (Title Installer etc...)
- Coldboot exploit (Exploit while booting up your Wii U, like redNAND)
(That's more technical actually but nvm)
- Custom Firmware
- Custom NAND
- NAND Backup
- emuNAND

Here's my own suggestions (That is totally subjective) :

- An MP4/AVI Reader
- A 3D Game like Portal 3DS (That is a Portal port for 3DS) - Made by @smealum

Developers: Check down here and start looking at others pages, i will not be able to list them all :P, i'm not the most active user :/ Sorry !

Now, dear haxx users; Let's post your suggestions, ideas etc... !

(Useless since Loadiine supports them) but nvm

- GBA
- GBC
- Nintendo 64
- NES
- SNES
- NDS
- GameCube
- Wii (plausible)
- Every console ever
- 2D/3D Fan-made Mario Game
- More GX2 Documentation, examples etc...

I'd love to see another 3D Mario game on the 3DS, and/or a Super Mario Flashback port. :P

EDIT: Wait a minute... Did I seriously write 3DS instead of Wii U? *facepalm*

At some point, I want to port Lua to the Wii U and create a GX2/AX powered game of some sort.

Something that would be cool is to use an amiibo bin file to get a different ammibo as the base. It would be nice to unlock the cave of shadows.

Has anyone thought about writing a SD card speed program that runs on the wii u to see what the data transfer speeds are ? 8x Blu Ray is about 36 megabytes/sec. Id say the Wii U drive has to be atleast that.

It seems with the speed issues the sd card data rate in the wii U must be like 2MB/sec

There are already two threads with this purpose, they just got buried
It gets buried, because the Wii U section does not have a separate homebrew section like the 3DS does - https://gbatemp.net/forums/3ds-homebrew-development-and-emulators.275/ or even the Wii does - https://gbatemp.net/forums/wii-emulation-and-homebrew.179/

Why is this? Several people have asked for it, but it never happens.

This may be the Hacking and Homebrew section, but having the hacking in it, seems to keep any homebrew threads buried at all times. Both the 3DS and Wii sections have hacking in completely separate sections.

If it requires emulators for the Wii U to make a Homebrew and Emulator section, well, there are a few emulators already made for the Wii U, as well as URetro which is a port of Libretro to the Wii U which is currently being worked on.

You can't xD Sorry :/ But you can create fake amiboo's and use them. Use the gbatemp search bar, it might help

@Cyan is it possible to make it sticky ? (Like for the 3DS one)
Instead of making it sticky, I think it will be closed very soon.
This kind of thread (exploit ideas) had been made every two months since the WiiU release and always ends bad. Users who "give ideas" are unknowledged users who don't know how a console is working. The suggestions can't be taken seriously and any developers knows what he can really do or not.
Users providing ideas or suggestion are not useful, unless they are developers themselves, and in this case they won't post it publicly for nintendo (or any other company) to investigate and close it before the hackers do anything with it.

I think a "WiiU Homebrew idea" thread already exists.
I'm looking for it right now...

(I used the search engine, I don't know why users say it's not working correctly)

Oh crap! On the link you gave, people really asked for "Nintendont directly from the Homebrew Launcher" or "Manga reader" (The Wii U have a PDF Reader already) or a "Recovery mode/Anti-brick" ...

You're right, GBATemp is not ready.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

@SylverReZ, i think they have been doing that since late 2000s

Either that or their old games were unfinished aswell but we can't notice it

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
