Lol the OPs usually do a great job at spamming a9lh. It seems like every thread is about it or downgrading nowadays.

I hope this is the most appropriate place to ask, I'm a bit of a n00b and my frustration levels have peaked, so any help will be greatly appreciated. My problem seems to be just from trying to copy my redNAND from an old SD card to a new bigger SD card.

My end goal is a 3DS where I have most of my games on a 32gb microSD card ready for when I go to Japan in June. I have followed Plailect's n00b friendly guide up to part 4, bullet 23. It was at this point I have realised the 4gb microSD isn't enough to continue with the process, so I'm trying to upgrade from the stock 4gb Toshiba microSD to a 32gb Sandisk I had lieing around (which I would have to do at some point anyway).

My main computer is OS X but I have been using a windows vista laptop as well. On OS X I've tried 'emuNAND Tools' to backup from my old SD card and restore to the new one. On Windows I've tried Hex Workshop to save sectors from the old SD and restore onto the new one. I tried Emunand tool which doesn't detect the SD card and I also tried 'USB Image tool' and 'EaseUS Partition master' to increase the partition. None of it works. The closest I have gotten is with Image Tool which successfully creates a backup and restores succesffully to the new SD(and works in the 3DS at this point), the problem arises when I expand the fat32 partition using EaseUS partition master which leaves the card unreadable.

Any ideas anyone?

Create a redNAND backup with EmuNAND9 on the old SD card. Use EmuNAND9 on the new SD card to format a new redNAND. Now, take the redNAND backup from the old SD card, and place it on the new SD card. Restore the backup via EmuNAND9. Done! After that, just copy all of the files from the old SD card to the new one and you should be at the same place you were before you switched SD cards.

On a side note, 4GB should be enough to do the guide, provided the SD card is empty when you start. I used the guide to set up an N3DS with a 4GB mSD. If you need the extra space, you can move emuNAND_original.bin to your PC and delete it off of your SD before creating sysNAND_original.bin.

So I was wondering if there was an easy way of going from my current setup to using A9LH + AuReiNand without losing everything on the current EmuNand? I was looking up guides but I just got a little lost and didn't want to risk screwing anything up so I figured I'd ask here.

Yes, backup your SD card's contents and start from Part 4 of Plailect's guide. Just follow the guide, and every time it says redNAND, use emuNAND instead.

When you finish the guide, your emuNAND will become your sysNAND, so you won't lose anything.

Alright, I'm on N3DS, following Plailect's guide. Just used OTPHelper to unbrick 2.1 emuNAND. Can I use One-Click Setup now, or am I screwed? Would One-Click Setup have unbricked emuNAND for me?

Thanks, and what sort of safety checks does One-Click Setup do? I know that once I click that button, there's no going back, so I'm still scared to click it. I validated my emuNAND, and everything was present and working.

It validates that your emuNAND is working properly before writing it to your sysNAND, then validates it again after writing it to your sysNAND. Essentially, it ensures that you won't brick during the process.

You're safe. If synand fails you can restore it

Yes, the video is using old methods that were much unsafer than the current methods. There is very little chance of bricking from doing the process. I've set up 2 N3DSes and an O3DS with Plailect's guide, and haven't had any issues.

So I've just flashed 2.1 to sysNAND. If I reboot without an SD card and it still blackscreens, am I totally screwed? I haven't done that yet (still in OTPHelper), but I'm just asking.
