Hacking Do you think a full speed psx emulator would be possible on Wii U?

Absolutely. The Playstation's clock speed is only 33.8688 MHz, compared to the N64's 93.75 MHz.
Clock speed isnt the only factor in an emulator, just because you have alot of clock speed doesnt mean things will run full speed. The emulator actually needs to be coded well

well obvious it is, the actual psx emulator for wii almost runs at full speed on every game it hink the slowest game is like 0.7 speed, the wiiu has 1.6x speed of the wii so yeah if we could ever unlock full speed on vwii you could use that emulator full speed no problem.

WTF, did you just make, like, ALL of that up in your head whilst typing? WiiSX is a great emulator, and runs a good amount of games at a more than playable rate, but there's a good amount of games that can drop below the 50% mark easy.... and WiiU is 1.6x the power of the Wii?! Where the hell did you read that? Think you're getting mixed up with Wii vs Gamecube there, which is roughly that sort of margin...

Your point is otherwise correct of course - PS1 emulation on a Wii U could work a treat. ;)

lol im not making thigs up ...
wii 729 MHz wiiu 1.24 GHz do the math...

and every game i tested on wiisx never went below 50% i dont know if some wierd games go below 50% tough.

 - OK then pal!! You'll be telling me the Atari Jaguar was 2x the PS1 coz it was 64bit next ehh.....('bits', just like Mhz, aren't the last word in a machine's capabilities ;) )

Yeah I've got a few games that drop below the 50% mark on WiiSX, but with more work done to the emulator I reckon the speed would've picked up - more a compatibility issue than anything else in my opinion, so that one I'll give you. :)

you just dont get it lol vwii runs with wii clock speed locked at 729hz becuase of wii speed, once we get caffe2wii ulocked with iosu(someday i guess) we can unloc the full clock speed on wiiu(like that 3ds app) making vwii run at 1.24ghz would speed up all wii homebrew mainly to 1.6, same way n3ds runs the same homebrew as the o3ds but much faster.

Right, I get you now (sort of  ) - that's a big if in the first place, and assuming you are right, I'm still not convinced you'd get the 1.6x speed boost you're looking for with that method, but as a way of getting your point across about the Wii U being powerful enough, fair do's pal, we'll leave it at that. ;)

Clock speed isn't the only relevant factor in relation to power

i know but its a big part just look at o3ds homebrew on n3ds, the only diference is the processor becuase all the other stuff on n3ds is exactly the same.
Exactly, o3ds and N3ds are the same console, except for the clock speed.
The wii and wii u are not the same console apart from the clock speed, they are completely different consoles.

vwii is a virtual wii inside wiiu i not talking about wiiu homebrew... im talking of acelerating vwii homebrew with wiiu clock speed.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

Either that or their old games were unfinished aswell but we can't notice it

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
