don't suppose there's a guide anywhere?
I don't know of a tutorial/guide off the top of my head but I've attached a compiled version of decrypt9. It has the Launcher.dat and *.bin versions. You can run the .bin version by placing it in the brahma folder on your sd card and starting it from the pasta gui. I think you have to press some hotkey to keep pasta from autobooting. Follow the instructions in decrypt9's readme on how to use it.
https://github.com/archshift/Decrypt9/tree/bootstrap

Anyway, that's all I should say about this before we get too off topic.

9.8 update for the 3DS, Sky3DS still not blocked, it's confirmed that Nintendo loves piracy...

Anyway, this thread is not here for complaining about the fact that Sky3DS isn't blocked, but to give infos on Pasta.

And the official firmware spoofing CIA will be released soon.

Maybe they can't block it without risking to block original carts, and so they prefer not to block it. Emunand is still not blocked, those bugs are a side-effect and mean the black screens with new firmware are not on purpose, but just because Nintendo modifications conflits with emunand. If it was done on purpose, 9.8 would have also completely blocked emunand again, which is not the case.

I almost finished with my GBA conversion method. If you want to help, here's 3 original images:

I need templates made from it, my program uses those images to create textures and 3D banner from it and I don't really want to include original images with my program. I need nicely scaled and smooth templates with alpha (transparency) in place.

With all this CN price talk, I got mine for $19.99 at my local target. So might wanna go to your target soon for everyone who doesn't have CN.

Will the GBA program deal with E/U/J region of the created files?

Because Pasta or Palantine CFW can't install out-of-region games, contrary to Gateway.

Well, I can explore files with Asus EasyFlash (from bios), but i'm not sure if it's a good idea ;)
Can't you just install an operating system to a USB drive?
I have installed Ubuntu on my 32 GB USB drive and it works perfectly :)
If you want to use Windows, there are tools that install it straight into the USB drive, but I don't know how well it would perform...
(if you have a slow drive, then I suggest you use Xubuntu or Lubuntu instead)

I read on this forum a method to prove it can be detected (GW Menu -> Test cart), but people seem to not listen to the fact it's possible or think that one can just not upgrade the firmware to whatever version finally blocks it. *shrug*

Did someone made a proof of concept? Would be interesting to see and test if it doesn't block retail cards. If it's like the 7.x keys which were rumored "impossible" to get :s

And why Nintendo would block Sky3DS anyway? (same for Gateway). It make them sells more 3DS so it's not a big problem (people who don't want to pay for games will never pay, at least they pay the system :D).

Blocking it would be completely useless anyway. Sky3DS users could do like Gateway users and just stay at the version they actually are, like I did with my N3DS (stayed at 9.0 to use the Gateway).

1. No, but it shouldn't block retail cards (it's not a detection, actually).
2. They make way more money on games than on systems.

1. It shouldn't or it won't? The nuance is pretty big, that's why a proof of concept would be interesting (but I bet and hope developpers have better things to do than such an useless thing actually :D).

2. Pirates that don't want to pay for games will never pay them, they'll prefer to just not play those games. So Nintendo have nothing to gain by blocking it, except lose a few sales of people who were interested into a 3DS to use those things.

Except for the part where Nintendo has sold the 3DS at loss before to get game sales going (not to say they currently are; I have no data on that).

At loss? :D

They just tried to sell it at a higher price than required then just reduce the price to the original one, but it's a lot off-topic so whatever.

I say "it shouldn't" because I didn't test.
