It's been a while since I've used my Wii U for GC games but I ran the games off USB. A have a couple of questions:

1) While the SD card for Nintendont needs to be formatted to FAT-32 does the USB with the games need to be?

2) I remember each time I loaded GC games on the USB I had to edit the USB file somehow to get it read on the Wii-U. Why was this and does anyone remember the process again?

1)
it depends on wiiu everything is a bit iffy since there are multiple ways
First method
1.1 probably the most popular on wiiu INJECTS(when you use injects nintendont can no longer read any usb storage besides wiiu formatted storage) and this is the only way to use wiiugamepad on nintendont
then there is 2 types of injects one is a single nintendont channel installed on wiiu menu that loads games of your sd card, you install a single forwarder that will open your sd card and load all games from there simple and the best imo since you can change settings before starting each game on the fly.

1.2 single inject installed on wiiu nand(or wiiu formatted hdd) you install a single game channel to nand or wiuu hdd and then that game will run when you open it and will use whatever settings are set on the global file this is kinda messy since you need to install one game at a time and get loads of channels and such but some ppl like this so its their choice

Second method on wiiu use wii mode
enter the wii mode inside the wii go to your homebrew channel or usbloader and start nintendont from there this is the only method that will allow usbfat32 storage hdds and such on wiiu, its a slower method because you need to enter wii mode and use wiimote to navigate and such but you can use usbfat32 hdds and such but you will loose the ability to use your wiiugamepad as a controller.

2) im guessing you had solo game injects for and since nintendont config files are global i you force settings that work on one game and dont work on another then you will need to manually change them every time before starting that game inject.

1) So in other words I do need to format my USB drive to FAT32.

For 2) I know I need to edit a file on my PC to make the PC read the USB and then edit the file again so the WiiU reads the USB. I need help with this that's what I'm asking for.

1 again it depends on what you want lol are you just gonna use wiiu wiimode only? since that is the only way to use usbfat32 with nintendont.

2 you dont need to do it on pc, if you isntall a solo nintendont channel and put a single game on sd card you can change settings then start that game(nintendont only saves settings after a game is loaded) then quit the game and start your inject of choice on wiiu menu with those new settings, no need for a pc.

1) I'm doing what I did before which is use just the Wii remote and use a Mayflash adapter.

2) But I want to run the games from USB, not SD.

then okay you just use wii mode you need your usb hdd to be fat32 and you start your nintendont chennl from homebrew channel and you can change settings before starting any game so no need for a pc.

Cool I just need someone to tell me how to edit the file to switch access from PC and WiiU.

Also if I decide to upgrade from Tiramisu to Aroma how do I do it safely so not to brick my console? Is there many advantages to changing to Aroma?

I have now formatted my USB drive to ex-FAT as there was no FAT-32 option.

Is the above okay? Also please could someone answer the above? I'm quite confused.

no you need fat32, every usb can be formatted to fat32 you may need a external formatter than what windows provides you to get your usb to fat32 since windows doesnt like formatting anything with big storage to fat32
