In the end, does the System Menu CIA work on an Old 3DS or Not?
Can we avoid the unnecessary fuckup that is downgrading with all of its problems and still get the mset exploit?
Sorry, I already got lost in those 32 pages of misunderstanding and still don't have an answer, other than people reading one specific question and answering a completely different made up one.

No, it doesn't work on old3ds. tried it myself (9.2 sysnand), when trying to launch gateway via ds profile it just crashes the system to a black error screen "an error has occurred, power off etc etc".

actually just did it!

formatting both the N3ds and the sd mini seemed to work!


now just to get a settings for N3ds fw 9.0.0 for my emunand and thats it

No emunand. Formating sd normaly dont work. Best way is using a new micro sd

it should work on the O3ds seeing that you can use PBT-CFW, you may geet the best of both words by installing just the downgraded settings and not the whole OS, keep your retail games working.

the 'cia' works, it is 'for' old3ds, because it is from 4.5.
but no, it seems being on old3ds 9.x with the 4.x system settings is not supported with the gw hopefully it will be, for my old3ds, i would rather downgrade system settings than downgrade my whole fw.

Before the first time using the GW and we have to follow those steps of the tutorial, I created a nand.bin file and did format emunand on GW menu. But that time I was on 9.1J.

Do I have to create this nand.bin file and format emunand again?

Because on GW website they say "be wise and backup your SYSNAND (and setup EMUNAND) using the Gateway menu before you do this."

What steps should I do now?

just tested

if you play a ds game or flashcart you will Break the exploit and this time the blue card or any gateway installer WONT fix it. you will have to reinstall the exploit using the new gateway NV RAM option

I tried using FBI insatller but I get an error: invaild title verion (0x27)

I also updated the title.db and import.db.

I used fbi 3ds and cia file to install mset but it work work.

I switched destination to NAND and got that error.

Any ideas?

there is a NDS rop installer to re-install the exploit, so if you have installed the whitelist to use the blue card all you need is the red and blue cards, unless you upgrade sysnand's system settings/whitelist at some point all you will ever need is the red & blue card

PS when using the blue card/nds games for me the profile exploit remains now, no need to re-install it, but it did disappear the first time i tried, since then it has stayed for good

Finally, got the rop installer to work with this Attached.

I can only test on USA n3ds so, EU and JPN let me know if it works for you too.

If not, please install the GW menu NVRAM installer then immediatly dump your DS profile with this app

btw I have confirmed too that with the SD management cia you can hotswap the launcher.dat with the new one then just reboot to sysnand and boot again into gw mode for the new launcher to be loaded, as it's already on the ram

Well, it's recommended that you do one now, considering that you're going to be tampering with system files.
Never know if you're gonna screw it up.
