Hello.

I have to say that I am pretty sad. I know that it is a beta but I played 4 hours on Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and when I wanted to exit the game (home > exit to the home menu) the emuNAND system crashed.

It crashed on the pop-up message "exiting the game...". I waited 10 mins then I pressed the power button to shutdown my 3DS.

When I wanted to play the game again, I was back at the beginning of the game with my old save.

Do this happenned to you? What do you think about it? What is making this happen?

Thanks.

It happened to me on New Super Mario Brothers 2. Just sat at the exiting game screen. I'm sure it's just a bug since it is a beta release. Did you have spot pass or street pass enabled? NSMB 2 was the only game i tried that froze and i had both of them turned on. Just a thought. Sorry about you losing your save though.... That sucks man

Nothing enabled here. No WiFi. No SpotPass. No StreetPass. Nothing...

Should have given a bit more time after pressing home. Then your save wouldn't have been fucked regardless of whether it crashed afterwards or not.
(it actually saves on pressing home, not on exiting via home + exit)

Good point. I hope you're right.

I´m saving normally without pressing the home button (procedure that we use to do) and it is working fine in Zelda.

I decided against setting up the emuNAND until they release a more stable version. I installed the hack and I always hold L when loading the Gateway. I tried Zelda from the default Gateway mode and saved 3 different times in 3 different locations. Every time I saved, I would hit PAUSE, HOME, then I would close the game. The first two times, I then went into settings and exited out so it would revert to sysNAND and then I would go back into Gateway mode and my save would be there. Third time, I did the same thing BUT I powered off the 3DS, turned it back on, and then went into Gateway mode. Save was also still there.

Seems to me that emuNAND is what is causing the freezing for some people. I have also never had a problem with Gateway loading and getting stuck on grey bars. I don't see a reason to need the emuNAND at the moment anyway unless they release a way to do system transfer so I can keep the games I already paid for from my old 3DS.

Hi,
I also not yet setting up the emuNAND as i can already playing game with SDK 5.xx+ except for Pokemon X & AC. Should I wait for more stable Gateway 2.0 or just proceed to do the emuNAND update into 6.3 as i worried that the window for 6.3 update might be close anytime. Is it worth it to update it for benefit of eshop and playing retail game vs risk of updating real/physical NAND and the instability in an updated emuNAND gateway mode? Thanks for advice.

I would say that it is personal opinion. If you think you will want the eshop, etc then I would do it. I doubt it will ever be needed for compatibility of roms so if you only want to play roms, I probably wouldn't at the moment since there is a chance it could cause issues with saving. Even though Nintendo may patch later firmwares to detect Gateway and prevent you from updating sysnand, that doesn't necessarily mean Gateway won't find a way to work around it. This is all just speculation though. With the information we have, it's a gamble.

Hopefully, gateway can come up with more stable/final of Gateway 2.0 before big N come up with newer firmware. i have read somewhere in other thread of people are having problem/issue of saving in Zelda ALBW in updated emuNAND and agreed it is a gamble for now. I will wait probably a few days or until i finished up the Zelda ALBW. hehe.
