Update: managed to remove some of the glue on NAND and have found trace to CMD pad so with extremely fine wire i should be able to write 4.4 back on unit.

Unfortunately, that's the "drawback" of using hard wires.
First time I did this mod I used flat cables (like the ones the old PATA drives were connected to the PC motherboards). They are hard and I almost pulled the traces. After my little scare, I put hot glue to secure the solder.

I hope everything turns ok for you in the end!

Cheers!

When you say its only just visible isn't that enough ? you should be able to so connect to that

Exactly!
If you use flux, a not so how soldering iron (maybe 330-350C), a thin malleable wire and stay cool and calm I guess you can fix it.

Otherwise, just sell it and buy another Mario Kart one.
I say a Mario Kart one because it might be difficult on your country to find a 4.5 or bellow (and a MK is 4.3). Here on my country I still find regular (blue or red, not bundles) with 4.3 and 4.4 but it's getting difficult to find 2012 manufactured consoles.

Cheers!

Yeah I will attempt to repair again however where the trace is to CMD the copper is showing left and right of that. It's extremely hard to get solder on only the finest fine trace without bridging. That's with flux aswell. It's just easier for me to pick up another 3dsxl and not waste anymore time on this one

Ive concluded that modding a port to make dumping more comfortable is not necessary.
Considering that it takes about 10 Minutes to open the case, connect the 4 points and start dumping ruining the case is not worth it ^^

The trace does not seem that small :wtf:

I agree with you, unless the "service" is for a 3rd person who doesn't have the skills with soldering or are too afraid to open the console.
This way, making a "stealth" dump connector is the more suitable.

Also, if you're doing this to enjoy 3DS flash cards and eShop in the same console, you'll be doing this very ofen. This way, a dump connector is also the best approach.

Cheers!

Trust me its small these photos are all blown up. I have made SNES Repro Carts and soldered a infectus v2 chip on 360 nand when JTAG first started. I just can't be bothered any more plus i do agree with adding ports (micro usb etc)
Soldering to those point over and over will weaken them so i do believe in adding a Microusb or similar. I did this mainly because i was swapping between my 6.3fw with all eshop purchases & 4.4 for gateway. I'm not sure emunand would help me as i already have my 6.3 dump with purchases info. Emunad looks like you upgrade via Nintendo which would mean for me i would lose all my eshop games. so this mod was a must so i could easily swap between Firmwares
