I believe we're on a different page, but point is, at the end of the day, these new ones are the same as the old ones, except with new elements added in, but the core of the game is the same.

I played Monster Hunter Tri 'til the cows came home. The controls are certainly an acquired taste, to say the least, haha! If you stick with it, though, it's one of the most rewarding games in recent memory!

The 3DS's controls simply do not work, however. There's simply no feasible way to control the darn thing! Honestly, it seems as if Capcom built thi demo from the ground up to showcase the worst possible control-wrestling scenarios. :'D

Unless I have a change of heart and decide to get a Circle Pad Pro, I'll have to wait for Monster Hunter 4, and hope that they get it right that time!

Seriously tho, can't you not claw on the 3ds, claw users?

You know what, I've actually changed my mind about this game. The lock feature works great for me, it only turns the camera to face the monster, and doesn't actually lock on so this isn't another casualization treatment like a lot of games have gotten lately. (SMT IV has ability to save everywhere, EO IV has casual, FE:13 has casual)
To be fair, at least it isn't casual only by default. At least they give players choices.

It weird to see the word casual (such as in EO IV) rather than easy, normal, hard, etc.

I guess I'm the only one that can deal/don't mind/use the touchscreen aim...I find it better than the claw.

The game looks good with 3d.

With all that said, I'm leaning towards the Wii U version.

Last MH I used lances the most, maybe it will be hammers this time base on the demo.

Which do you think I should buy the wiiU version or the 3ds version, keep in mind I never played a monster hunter game.

I'm in the same vote. I might get 3DS version so I can extract the save to PC and try modding it by searching for my money value in hex.

If you are a MH fan and played it on the PSP, you could always do this :

Also, the touch screen D-PAD can extend to cover one entire half of the screen. Here's a video :

I personally think this game looks quite good. I'm considering getting a 3DS XL just for this (well and Pokemon X/Y)

Arent they going to judge if MH4 should come over based on Tri U sales?

I assume so, but I think they will probably more look at the 3ds sales as mh4 is 3ds only. if it won't sell well, I don't think we will see it coming. Most people here are saying they aren't getting it which already doesn't look promising.

I honestly still dont get why its 3ds only. Honestly the dumbest shlt I've heard.

Brb crappy graphics compared to psp
brb so much potential... eff that lets not make this hard on ourselves.
brb probably lying to consumers and gonna release one console (cause we're dicks)

I was really skeptical about getting a Wii u for mh3u seeing i played the one on psp. But once i got the demo for the wii u, it felt completely different and i could see myself spending alot of time on it.
But no we're Capcom and we like to make shit difficult for ever effing person. Eff them for not planing on taking MH4 to consoles.

MH series just seems like a natural fit for a portable. I imagine there's more market share to be had on the portables and that's why Capcom went that route. As big as Capcom is, I'm sure market research is done and then decisions based on that.

Then they should put it on th vita. Not go backwards in tech. Love the loading times on my wii tho. That's one more thing I like about the consoles

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
