Eh...I'm a purist... I wouldn't watch a dubbed movie, so why would I play a dubbed game. Plus there are a lot more interesting games coming out with dual audio during this time this would have been an instant purchase however now I can give my money to some other company.
So sad, yet still good they are still releasing niche titles like this at all in English...
Meanwhile, Fire Emblem 3DS is having dual audio (Sugita Tomokazu!) for the first time ever, with the previous JP-only titles appearing as DLC cameos...
MAJOR EDIT: Only the European version is confirmed to only have the English dub (for now).
The US version was confirmed before to have both Japanese and English dubs like the initial European announcement, but further US details are TBD.

English voiceovers? For the American localization? The horror, the horror!
I'm sure it's nice to have the original voiceovers, but space for games isn't infinite; sometimes, something has to give. Plus, you haven't even heard the dub yet. Who's to say the cast won't do the material justice?
I don't know, maybe you should give the game a chance before dismissing it outright over nothing. Just a thought, really.

Really, it doesn't matter. At all. It's the silliest detail to not buy a game over. I mean, seriously? "Oh, I want the game, but I don't want it the way they're localizing it. If they could just insert those Japanese voices I barely understand that are probably shit by Japanese standards anyways, I would buy the shit out of that!"
The line of thinking baffles me. Then again, I play games for their story and gameplay, not whatever nobody they got to voice the character I'll forget about a week after I beat the game.
Why? What makes a "dub" impure?
With films, sure, I get it - the lips don't match up, it looks silly, etc. With games (and, by extension, animation), it's easy to avoid that problem. While there may be bad dubs, that doesn't reflect some inherent weakness with them - it just demonstrates poor acting, direction, casting, material, etc. in that particular dub. A good dub can even improve the experience dramatically. I'm not opposed to reading by any means, but delivery often suffers with subtitles - they just can't convey the subtle inflections and nuances that can make a line work.
I mean, would Metal Gear Solid really be better without David Hayter's Snake? Would (the one and only) Dante's "coolness" translate completely through subtitles alone?

Previous Atelier games all had dual audio...if I buy it I'm basically telling Tecmo Koei I'm fine with it, I am not thus I am not buying. You can call it a snob, I happen to like watching anime in Japanese, playing games in their original language. And unlike you I actually like some voice actors, and I watch (or play) what they release.
I've bought and beaten the Iris series, the Mana Khemia series, and the Arland series and even the DS game Atelier Annie, so yeah I highly doubt I'm not a fan. I just have preferences.
Except you're not buying this just because of an audio choice, like I said. A fan of a series would actually buy it no matter what. Thus you not really being a fan, just you claiming you are.
Nah, I'll give you that, I'm not that big of a fan to buy a game without dual audio over games like Fire Emblem Awakening (which has dual audio) Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory (which has dual audio). Yeah, plus I won't give Tecmo Koei my money over their fuck-up, they thought it was a good business decision, that is their right, and it is my right as a consumer to say I'm not buying the game.
I'm not being dumb...I'm not giving paying for the same price for a game, whose predecessors all had dual audio. Tecmo-Koei can be cheap as I have said, I'm not going to pay the same price for a lesser product.
Not sure if I'd buy the game (at least straight away anyways), but there have been some pretty good games with honestly horrible voice acting. I'm fine with playing games in either language, but when something like Suikoden Tierkreis happens, I'd be pissed off. I actually have the game and changed over to a hacked ROM instead of playing it on the original cart. Why? Because of the horrible voice acting.. And usually I can't bother.

I'd like to know when you say you don't like dubs, are you watching them with subs or can actually understand the original language
there are A LOT of piss poor sub groups out there that miss vital parts of info in stories, not all of them as they add in info to help with context, but most miss it.
I'unno... your argument runs dangerously close to not playing any English version because you have the "pure" Japanese version. Unless you can't read Japanese or something... which... makes you pretty hollow for a purist

Dubbed movies aren't the same as dubbed games/animation. There's a noticeable lip sync issue which really takes you out of it. For games and animation, provided it's a good dub, it's fine.
"Purist" and "weaboo" are one in the same.

Anybody here have a Xbox series S and a series X, is the performance difference noticeable? Not worried about 4k. I have a series X but not a series S and was curious. (Reason- I was thinking of buying a series S for a second tv, for when grandkids come over, to keep them off my X) -
