this is great news, that means if nobody ends up getting a CvIOS up and running for usb loaders, that game loading will still be possible via SNEEK+DI at worst

I may be excessively over tired but... by virtue of having the Wii U menu option (which I thought wouldn't run with a regular Wii NAND) that looks like he's emulating the vWii NAND rather than the regular Wii one too.

Now THIS is fantastic news. :grog: :hrth:

I know you guys all like your cIOS'es and installing all sorts of stuff on your machine, but really...this is the better approach. With sneek, you have all your settings, miis, savegames, channels, games and what have you all grouped together.

...of course I'll still wait and see how neek2o will evolve (and wait for my guarantee date to expire before doing these sorts of things with my console), but if you ask me, this step is easily up to par with installing the HBC on a wiiu. :D

Interesting. I've never bothered with (S/U)NEEK before but at least now I know USB loading on vWii is possible already.

I've never looked into NEEK so I don't know what the difference between neek2o and (S/U)NEEK is. Is neek2o just an enhanced fork or something?

Also, shouldn't it be possible to install a cIOS within SNEEK in order to use a normal USB loader? Though that might be a bit redundant, I suppose. I certainly prefer the GUI of WiiFlow over SNEEK's ugly overlay.

You can install a cIOS in vWii even right now ... but only one meant for the original Wii so it won't even run in vWii. The same I would assume would be the case with xNEEK. It's running ripped copies of all the Wii U's vIOS's so it still can't use the IOS from the original Wii. Even on an original Wii, though, a cIOS doesn't run very well. It kinda does some of the same things that xNEEK would be doing so they can have conflicts.

That being said, WiiFlow can run from within xNEEK and you can have xNEEK autoboot the forwarder channel and basically get the same effect. They're still working on perfecting having WiiFlow run Wii games from within xNEEK but I'm sure that with this they'll be all the more motivated to get it working since it would yet be the ONLY way to get it working at all on a Wii U.

Oh right. For some reason I forgot that cIOSes could already be installed. I knew they didn't work, just didn't think about it when I made this post, lol.

But if WiiFlow works with xNEEK then that's certainly something I'll look into. Do GC games work with xNEEK? I realize that won't be useful on the Wii U yet, just wondering.
Edit: And yet another question, does Devolution work within xNEEK (without verifying using physical discs?)

As you say, not useful without the gamecube ports to plug something into but I don't really know what would happen if you tried running DM(L) on xNEEK+DI in vWii. It might just show run the game and go to the title screen and sit there since you can't push start or it might just crash. I know that without a boot2 you can't use DM(L) the normal way through real NAND but I think the xNEEK way bypasses that so I don't know.

Devolution, on the other hand, doesn't even need xNEEK. It runs from the HBC without having to install anything else. The current version needs a GC controller to select and start a game but there's a video of a version that lets you use the wiimote to make that selection (but that's a change anyone can change who knows how since the menu part's open sourced) Also, I think you can run Devolution from WiiFlow still, taking advantage of it's wiimote support ... but still either way in game you just end up staring at the title screen as shown in the before mentioned video. (At least with Devolution it IS possible for it to eventually support classic controllers ... whereas with DM(L) it presumably will not.).
As for verification, there are adapters for mini-DVD disks ... just no one's been willing to try one out either because of the price or because they're scared they'll screw up their drive.

So, how does one install this on a Wii U, and would other homebrew apps work (like RetroArch, Wii64, etc)? I take it there are advantages as opposed to installing the HBC by itself? A very noobish question, I know, just need verification before I do something like this, and to make sure it's more or less safe to do so.

I think other homebrew apps, many have to be reprogrammed to run in xNEEK without any conflicts but others are okay as it.
You install with SmashStack and yes it's a vWii so its like a wii, and of course there are advantages, and everything's save... if you do it correctly.

Wait, source please? I didn't know this could be installed yet. On a normal Wii it needs BootMii to work so where's this cool installer you speak of?

well, for cios236, refer to da ysteryman's recent thread. as for SNEEK+DI, the code hasn't actually been released yet.

Ah, bollocks, too much trouble. Developers aren't going to make it work with it anytime soon, so I'll screw the whole DNEEK/SNEEK thing.
Yeah, for the most part xNEEK is just to play with things that Nintendo made like games and channels and not as much for Homebrew. Keep your HBC (you very well may need it to launch xNEEK in the first place)

Actually Wiiflow can load the usb port of the Wii U, i did my test... i can see my games, load them but back to the Wii Menu after load ;).
Now about Sneek+DI you should dump your vWii nand and compile with this one, you should be able to reproduce what Crediar did.
I'm more checking about using the Gamepad Wii U display process under wii mode than checking how to launch Wii Games with USB Loader (you can do it already but you need to rewrite some part or compile your own stuff)
