So the eShop will be able to sell 18+ games and show 18+ trailers only 4 hours a day, between 23:00 and 03:00 in Europe?
That's very fucked up, and I hope this "feature" will get taken away sooner than soon. I have two words: "PARENTAL LOCK" perhaps? If the parents think the kid's too young or vurnerable to 18+ content, then use a fucking code to lock out the 18+ content. Holy shit.. this is... .. I can't find any words of how bad this is!

That's fucking stupid.

What's NoE's reasoning for this?

From what I read there's some sort of German law or something of the sort that puts these restrictions on and for some reason they extended it to the entirety of Europe.

Don't quote me on it though, I only read it in passing.

EDIT: And I changed the title as per request.

EXACTLY! Look at Sony, and Microsoft.
COD, God Of War.......... ALL bad content, but they still don't add any locks to it.
Nintendo of Europe needs to stop being so... WHATS the proper word!?!?!?
I'm not in Europe, but I think this is unfair.

Doesn't Europe always get boned with this stuff? Could just be they're following laws or something.

Depends on the parts of Europe, but I don't think Steam, Origin, Xbox Live, PSN, etc follow this restriction. Like Germany usually gets the shit end of the stick when it comes to game censorship and age restrictions (Think of them like, um, Australia-Hungary).

Well that sucks, I feel bad for European Wii U owners now. I'm glad they don't have anything like that in North America.

I feel so bad for the people of Europe who won't get to look at 18+ content on their Wiis. I honestly can not believe Nintendo would block their great M rated titles such as...well...still. It's ridiculous that Nintendo gets jurisdiction over their own consoles. I don't have jurisdiction over my body in prison, so why should Nintendo have any right to control something they've built and maintained for years?

Because they want sales, something that's easier to get if people actually like your console.

origin germany had the 11pm restriction too. I remember that from battlefield 3, I'm not sure if they still have this though, but most probably.

EU law or Wii U decree, this just sucks. Is it so hard to "protect the children" without screwing over the rest of your customers?

Wouldn't it be just easier to put a parental lock on it? I mean this seriously restricts the users who are actually 18+. Not to mention Nintendo seems to want to go more in the direction of M games for the Wii U, so that's just going to isolate European gamers more.

...it's not how you do it, Nintendo...

Your users input their birthday into the system, don't they? Well then use it to filter the content for them rather than restrict the whole continent from viewing content.

...God, this company really doesn't know how to manage good Online.

Because no one can enter a bithday that's a couple of years older than they are. This method still sucks though.

That should be left up to the parents to handle. Most of this stuff seems like a problem that should and can easily be fixed with parental blocks and parents actually monitoring their kids.

It doesn't matter whether the birthday inputted is real or not - what matters is that it works, and with parental controls, it's fool-proof. Nintendo's implementation is stupid - nobody else does it like that because they know it's stupid.

And like non-adults can't wait until 11:30 PM? :P

The birthdate method at least allows adult users to get their stuff any time of day, while the time method restricts everybody and makes no attempt to actually determine the user's age (so it's worse than the birthdate method).
