Hi Guys, I just want to start a topic about the WiiU. Ok, Coming in 2012, Nintendo's next home console will deliver "deeper game experiences" that aim to offer
"something for everyone." And it'll be called the WiiU!!!!

A variety of new controls will be made available by that crazy new controller with a 6.2-inch touchscreen embedded in it. Most importantly, you'll no longer be tied to aTV to enjoy your home consoling action -- the WiiU controller can handle your gaming session when the television is needed for other purposes, while a built-in front-facing cam will let you video chat from anywhere too. Notably, you won't have to use the 6.2-inch behemoth if you don't want too.

The WiiU will be fully compatible with all current-gen accessories and software. Yes, your expansive Wii collection will play on the U version of the console as well. Isn't that cool!

I've also seen some decidedly high-def visuals from Nintendo showing off the WiiU's graphical prowess.

So what are you waiting for!! Start saving some cash before they release them!! The price of the WiiU hasn't been told by Nintendo.

Stay tuned for updates off the WiiU by 2012!! The WiiU will most likely be released by April to December 2012. Here are some pics of the WiiU.

But before that let me ask you some questions, will you buy the WiiU? Why? Will you sell your Wii in order to buy a WiiU? Do you think this will cost a lot of money? Will they release them with multi-colored WiiU? Do you think it will be easily hackable like the Wii?

Will you buy the WiiU? Why?
Yes, it is a next gen console that adds something new to the table.
Will you sell your Wii in order to buy a WiiU?
I didn't have my own,but I would.
Do you think this will cost a lot of money?
$250-300
Will they release them with multi-colored WiiU?
Maybe after a year or two.
Do you think it will be easily hackable like the Wii?

They could have it ready to be released by April, but I have a feeling they're going to wait until the fall to do so.

They said they're learning from their mistakes with the 3DS, and it wasn't released at the best time. Also, they're going to probably want a better line-up of games, and the system to have all it's features from the start.

Edit:

You are late...,but this could be a general wii u thread.

Will you buy the WiiU? Why? - Not sure yet. Depends on price, and games. Most likely, but I don't think I will at launch.
Will you sell your Wii in order to buy a WiiU? - Nah. I have my HDD hooked up, and I'd get like no money for it by then. It's not worth it, and I much rather keep it.
Do you think this will cost a lot of money? -$250-300
Will they release them with multi-colored WiiU? - I doubt it. Probably same thing with the Wii. White at first, black later on.
Do you think it will be easily hackable like the Wii?- Definitely not.

it's totally different on a "Wii" that I used to know.

A controller with a touch screen or whatsoever, is not really that cool. I rather buy a Vita for that.

The only Nintendo system to date that I have absolutely no interest in purchasing. It looks terrible. Whose idea was it to have a controller of that size with a built-in screen. #LOLFAIL

WTF..."admit"? It's not like they committed a crime or something. Or held it a secret (unless you've been living under a rock).

Will you buy the WiiU? Why? Yes. I never got me a PS3 or XBOX360, so the graphics actually might improve.
Will you sell your Wii in order to buy a WiiU? No. I'm far too attached to it. Plus, it can hold and play waaaaay too much games.
Do you think this will cost a lot of money? Probably around the same price as nintendo's average console upon launch: in the price range for the casual gamers. This is pure speculation, though.
Will they release them with multi-colored WiiU? Probably not at launch, but it won't take that long.
Do you think it will be easily hackable like the Wii? Certainly not. Nintendo lost their third party support on the wii because the hardware is too different to allow for cost-effective ports. I doubt they'll risk losing third party support because their antipiracy policy isn't up to par with the competition.

Anyone who thinks the WiiU is going to be a big improvement over the Wii is going to be let down. Ignoring the new controller, it will be the same machine with a few updated components (faster CPU, higher capacity optical drive, HDMI video) but the same lame limitations: insufficient local storage, lack of an overall OS, no multimedia (DVD/BluRay) capabilities. One thing I do think they'll add is support for external USB storage, similar to the XBOX360; in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the wii soon gets an update for the same thing...

Won't be getting this until it's confirmed that this is at least comparable in power to the PS4/Ten. I'm not willing to buy a console that's just going to be filled with a bunch of ports of already-released PS3/360 games.

Will you sell your Wii in order to buy a WiiU?
Fuck no. I'll be keeping my hacked Wii with all my homebrew and games.

Im only gonna sell my Wii if the WiiU can be hackad as such as it works exactly the way a softmodded Wii do today (in other words, being able to do everything from external sources etc)

All those are to save cost, Not like people don't have one already that want one and it not like people who want a wii u want to buy those going for a gaming console. They have Netflix and Hulu Plus now, most people are going to be using that.
We don't know os nor barely anything else for that matter.
DVD/BluRay is not even a improvement for a game system.

You are crazy if you think this isn't a big improvement over the wii.

Do you really think the ps4/"Ten" would go that much up in power?

Wii u may do that power holding back thing. :P

Yeah I do, technology changes a lot over the course of six years.

The rumors so far point to the PS4 and X-box 720 as also being "half a generation" upgrades...

The problem with giant technology leaps is that to make use of said hardware, software companies have to spend much more money... We are at the cusp of what makes sense in the hardware versus software wars... Push too much stronger hardware now, and it will literally go unused because the cost to develope software that can take advantage of it would be so high that the companies literally wouldn't be able to turn a profit on it.

Yes we do. Go read the patents.
I didn't remember patents giving that much information.
Besides things have been changing every since that time.
E3 was not even near final dev kits.

What patents are you looking at?

Yeah I do, technology changes a lot over the course of six years.
I'm saying why wouldn't the wii u be at the same area?
There be statements that at least say they aren't using 5years technology,
so it has to be at least higher than that.
Why are you so certain that this will be a ps3/360 to wii thing again?
It is most likely be at or near the same level getting the same multi-platform games.
I actually expect the wii u to be in the middle of them.

There have been statements about Sony saying it wouldn't be that big of a jump.

Because pretty much every rumour and official statement I've seen regarding the WiiU makes it seem like a souped-up 360. It doesn't help when Miyamoto himself says that it won't be much more powerful than the PS3/360.

It seems to me that Nintendo is trying to differentiate their system with the controller instead of the technical specs (like they did with motion-controls on the Wii and the touch-screen on the DS). And the fact that pretty much every game revealed for the system right now are ports of games coming/that already came to the PS3/360 doesn't help.

I'm sure the WiiU will get multiplatform games (PS3/360) until the next console generation arrives. Then it'll be the Wii vs. PS3/360 all over again.

I'll be honest here, I hope Nintendo proves me wrong but based on what I've seen with the Wii and DS, it seems Nintendo has lowered their priority on the specs of the system and are busy focusing with new gameplay mechanics. Yes I know there are exceptions (Gamecube) but the last generation with the Wii struck a sour note. I just hope they don't end up skimping on the specs for the WiiU.

Despite not having the same amount of power, the ds and wii had it good games as well.

All the links say the exact same thing in different words. Did you read about the underclock dev kits or 50% more powerful?
If you ware watching e3 and after conferences , they already mention exclusive(also ones without titles) games for it.

He could be underselling or mistranslation. Don't you think he could be saying that because consoles
aren't going go that much higher in power that it unaffordable and the power really doesn't matters at that point.

Things change due time anyway.

If you so worry about power, spam Nintendo support about it. (Partly Serious)
How much are you willing to pay for a next gen consoles and it games?

I think if the ps4/720 going to make the wii u a wii then they will have a heavy price tag with the games and consoles (If not, it going to add even more to the games.)
I think ps4 is only going to make things look prettier to the wii u and wouldn't have any games that the wii u can't play.

I mean you matter well go to the PC if you are worry about looks.

If you reply, I'll continue in a PM if I have anything else to post.

This is what you are looking at.

Hard for me to find good pc videos that are not shooters...

although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
