Capcom survey asks fans directly which Resident Evil remake they'd like to see next

resident-evil-remake-comparison.png

A new survey by Capcom has been spotted. This survey seems to focus on Resident Evil related media, like the Ambassador program and the Resident Evil.NET service that Capcom has ongoing for the series, and also some questions regarding their main Resident Evil social media accounts (mainly their Twitter accounts), like Resident Evil Portal.

However, at the very end of the survey, Capcom asks a very particular question to the user/player. The question asks the following:
Capcom Survey said:
Let us know if there are any other Resident Evil games you want remade.

The question is then followed by a blank text box in which the user can type whichever Resident Evil game they'd be interested to see being remade from their classic catalogue of the series. Many have already responded with the most prominent and missing remake out of the main titles from the original tank controls classics, that being Code Veronica, while others have also cited asking for a Resident Evil Survivor (PSX) remake, and there's also those that have gone for the obvious next title in the numbered series, asking for a RE5 Remake.

While Capcom hasn't given any official announcement regarding which title in the Resident Evil series they will release next, the sales and acclaim that their latest title, Resident Evil 4 Remake, has seen has been nothing short of positive and very well received, with rumours of upcoming DLC for the title still up in the air.

Those interested in filling up the survey themselves to let Capcom know which title people are mostly interested in being remade can do so in the following link:

Did you stop playing RE with RE6 perhaps?
Perhaps Capcom has been pretty solid with all the RE titles from 7 onwards (with possibly RE3R being an exception, but still was a fun time).
All in all, they've been doing a really good job of keeping the franchise not only alive and kicking, but they have done an excellent job making them really good. They did learn from their past mistakes for sure.
I took a break at RE6 but didn't really look into 7 until Village released. 7 was a breath of fresh air I'll say. RE3R was fun for sure, I just feel bad for those who paid full price lol.
I'm just tired of all the remakes we've been getting in general when it comes to games. Capcom usually does a good job(still need to try the RE4 remake) but I'm just craving something new.

5 and Code Veronica, then a remake of REmake. 6 doesn't really need a remake anytime soon because it's HD and you can move while aiming/shooting.

Thinking about DLC they say? They should of made that REsident Evil 3 a DLC expansion to part 2 and retcon Code Veronica (along with the X extra content) into the true REsident Evil 3.

I do feel like Revelations games aren't « old enough » tho ... but sooner or latter we'll have them anyway

I don't see why, the first title is over a decade old now, and they were made for the 3DS which makes them games with poorer presentations than the likes of RE5 which was made for the 360 and PS3. Yet no one bats an eye at the prospect of RE5 being next for a remake.

The obvious choice is Code Veronica after they killed off the fan remake the asshats. Do it already.

I loved RE3R - I wanted it to be more action-packed than RE2R and it was exactly what I expected. Short, but it was sweet. In my mind it’s on the same level as RE2R in terms of quality, they’re both good representations of what’s being remade, 2 and 3 were “different” in the same ways originally.

Also, Code Veronica is the correct answer - I wanted to play the PS4 “HD” port the other day but decided not to due to no widescreen support, which is very annoying on a modern display.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
