Hacking You don't need a modchip for homebrew?

I only just realized that you DON'T need a mod chip to do the Twilight Hack...weird eh? I thought, based on the initial "Hello World" for Wii homebrew, which required a mod chip, that homebrew via the Twilight Hack, required a mod chip.

Is it still worth it to install a mod chip for homebrew? (I realize that there isn't much as for Wii homebrew atm, so I'm referring to homebrew in the near future)
