Most of PC master race from what I've seen is just nerds talking about why they like their platform and not so much going out of their way to poke console players, but I agree that anyone hating others for just playing on a platform are quite annoying. While I wouldn't count PC as a console I have to admit that the master race can be quite annoying
I had a craptop once and someone's little brother on Steam kept spamming nukes on my gmod server and when I asked him to stop because my FPS was dipping into single digits, he kept telling me to "just get a good pc lol" as if I didn't already want one.My experience with PC gamers hasn't been good either. It sucks not having a more powerful computer to play newer games and getting bashed for not buying expensive components to play them. I like my PC the way it is. It's not like I won't upgrade ever since firmware and the like gets old. Once I have the funds, I just might. But I can't stand the constant arrogant attitudes I receive when I give people my current specs. Which is why I don't do it really ever.
I dont know... "Sega does what Nintendont" caused a few fights in my neighborhood.. I'm not joking.I hate how being a fan of something has a toxic element these days. We had console wars in the 1980s and 90s but it was never as mean-spirited as it is now.
Just show the Nintendo kids a copy of Quake III Arena for dreamcast and invite them over to deathmatch and everyone will shut upI dont know... "Sega does what Nintendont" caused a few fights in my neighborhood.. I'm not joking.
JuSt GEt a Pc BrOOf the options given? Abso-fucking-lutely PC gamers.
I've found the particularly obnoxious PlayStation and Xbox people tend to stay in their own little hellholes. The 'console war' mentality does still exist, but it's far more subdued than it used to be. PlayStation's inherently on top in terms of sales, and both consoles have their own legitimate pros and cons that make them both valid choices. From what I've seen personally, people are much more respectful about these things now.
Nintendo fans? They're definitely super annoying, but I think I'm far more used to them personally, having spent so many years as a Nintendo fan. That said, I can only take so many jokes about cease and desist orders and Chris Pratt Mario before I get tired.
Thing is with PC gamers is that they are... well, very vehement about their pick being the right one towards basically console gamers. And sure - a good gaming PC can absolutely out-do a console, performance wise. But the performance/graphics improvements are becoming more and more marginal, and PC gaming has a steep barrier to entry (technical know-how, cost of parts incl. scalped GPUs)
I strongly believe PC isn't 'the objectively correct choice' for gaming, 'master race' or whatever. Consoles absolutely have their benefits compared to PC. Physical games, used games, more simplicity in terms of accessibility and usability for casuals, and less variability (= easier to know your shit's gonna work fine)
It's like iPhones vs Android. I mean, I'm an Android user thru and thru, and I still personally prefer it, but over time I've come to understand the reasons people prefer iPhones. They both have their valid use cases and target audiences, and both are totally legitimate choices. Just like console and PC.
Except in this case, console gaming's for normies, and PC gaming's reserved for obnoxious internet nerds with a superiority complex.
I'm actually tired of that mindset. Apples in house chips are insanely good and 9 times out of 10 your MacBook will outlast any Windows based laptop.try being an "apple only" family you'll be laughed out of the room real quick by the PCMR
BUT DA GAMEZ Rosetta 2 might not be around forever and i doubt game companies will pour time into running their games on silicon nativelyI'm actually tired of that mindset. Apples in house chips are insanely good and 9 times out of 10 your MacBook will outlast any Windows based laptop.
The biggest problem with Apple products isn't their own components, it's that they also use a bunch of third-party components (ASUS, ASRock, MSi, etc) and charge insane markups for them.I'm actually tired of that mindset. Apples in house chips are insanely good and 9 times out of 10 your MacBook will outlast any Windows based laptop.
the self fulfilling prophecy has arrived, and faster than I expected tooI own everything except Microsoft hardware so I try to stay pretty neutral, but whenever people say PC fans are the worst I just think of the "they hated Jesus because he told them the truth" meme. Aside from the shortages and overpricing going on now, it's objectively the best gaming platform, as it does everything you would need to hack a console to do and more. Modding, cheats, free online play, compatibility with every controller, emulation, upgradeable hardware, the largest legacy game library by far, etc and so forth. There's just no arguing against it without resorting to pure emotion and/or ad hominem attacks.
That doesn't mean I approve of elitism or gatekeeping, of course. Anybody is free to become a PC gamer at any time, and I have no problem with the younger crowd preferring consoles for their simplicity. I certainly did back in the day, and I had to have somebody else build my first custom gaming PC for me.
I acknowledged some of the same points you did for why somebody might prefer consoles to PC, but I don't rate those as enough to overcome all the other objective advantages it holds as a gaming platform. Ideally, everybody would have a strong gaming PC plus the console of their choice to play exclusives on, but neither next-gen consoles nor PC components are in ideal price ranges at the moment.the self fulfilling prophecy has arrived, and faster than I expected too
