I'll buy one at launch with one game to test it out then put it away and hack it when it becomes possible.
I hate Nintendo's attitude towards gamers.
- The stick drift that's never been fixed
- the DMCA takedowns
- the prices of first party games
- inability to store save games unless you pay a subscription
- Have ONE island in Animal Crossing, expecting me to buy a second switch to have my own while there is 0 reason for it to work like that?...
There's enough reasons to dislike them for what they do to customers.
But... when it comes to games?
- They know what is important to make a fun game.
- They dare to try new things (even if they aren't always successful, but i still see the potential the Wii U had, but it was too soon with the wrong hardware).
So yeah i'll probably buy a new console. Heck, i even buy their games.
But if my cartridge breaks? And i'm not allowed to just use the digital version or play my own copy of the game? Yeah i'll mod my new console ASAP
I would slap u with a trout.No. The Switch is a low powered machine with not many good games for my liking. I'd rather be better off with an emulation handheld or PC to play, thanks.
Quoting myself here. Since may, I've gotten to learn/play the wii with my kid (Kirby!Erm...shouldn't there at least be a "I'm undecided" post in there? Nintendo hasn't even revealed the name, let alone the launch titles.
Or the gimmick/feature that'll make this an upgrade from a switch (because of course they're not just adding horsepower).
EDIT: I also wanted to add...why would I hate nintendo for doing what they've been doing for years if not decades? Yeah, easy piracy not being available sucks, but that's pretty much a given.
Besides...Think of the audience here. I recently bought Mario kart 8 for my little nephew who pretty much breathes Mario right now. What would you expect would happen?
Alternate me: sorry, kiddo. I like how you like your Mario fix, but I don't pay money to a company that makes it hard to steal from them.
As for me? Meh...I probably won't bother. The switch has way too small buttons to be playable as an adult, and for every exclusive game I might like there's hundreds of games I don't care about.
*looks at steam deck* Now there's the good stuff: it has THOUSANDS of games I don't care about. But even so, it has more that I like than on nintendo's stuff.![]()
It be better be some really impressive shit if I wanna buy it on day one.
Nah, think I'm done with consoles. Nintendo is out of ideas, releases almost exclusively remakes and remasters these days. Switch 2 will be easy to emulate for the few originals I feel the need to play. All their third-party ports are released on Steam two years earlier.
Of course I am a Nintendo fan at heart. Even tho I do not like their practices when it comes to classic games. Nintendo consoles are are investments. They still have fun family friendly games. With the recent news of Nintendo revealing their "next gen" console by the end of the fiscal year... one question emerges:
Will you be buying their next Console?
But wait... don't y'all here hate Nintendo?
I'm curious because... with the recent DMCA strikes, and the now standard "gamer" anthem: "iTs mOraLly cOrReCt tO pIraTe NIntEndO gAmEs", I'm wondering how many of you are actually going to keep supporting Nintendo, so y'all can show Nintendo how much you hate Nintendo.
Also, just today Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been declared as the best selling Nintendo game ever. I guess your "morally correct piracy" isn't making that much of an impact in Nintendo...
As for myself... the last time I actually bought a Nintendo console and legit games was in 2011, when I got a Nintendo 3DS and Digital copies of Colors!, Zelda OoT 3D and Street Fighter IV 3D.
So it's been over a decade Nintendo has seen money out of my pockets.
I've missed 2 "generations" of games now and I'm very interested in Nintendo's next underpowered console.
So it's a yes from my side... depends actually on how overpriced the console is. A WiiU alone is above 700USD in my country (yes, still)...
If the rumours are actually correct, I can't wait to play Zelda Remakes running in Unreal Engine, Mario Kart with possible actual HDR, RTX, and 4K resolution, whatever Sakurai comes up with with the next Smash Bros. and definitely Metroid Prime 4.
With that aside, time has shown us that early consoles are worth more than newer revisions, and.at the same time, Nintendo's tradition to release revisions.
The 3DS alone had 7, so if we're talking about a supposed Rev-1 Console close to PS4 capabilities, imagine how good a late Rev-N console could get.
What about you guys?
I agreeIt's not about IF I will buy the new Nintendo console, but WHEN.
I'm a big supporter of Nintendo products, so in my case its a fact I'll buy it.
Nintendo delivers, others are just copycats.
That's crazy, Do they still have new boxed untis that never got sold or something? Do they still have lots of crt's in mexico?Define "gamers now".
It's because Importation taxes + Government taxes + Added Value Tax + whatever the store wants to earn as net earnings.
A Switch is about the same. XBOX and PS consoles are a tad bit more expensive.
A SNES or NES Mini Classic are 10K MXN pesos here, that's around 500 USD and really the only cheap Nintendo consoles you can get are Wii's, those are around 300 USD.
Old 3DS are around 400USD and newer revisions around 500USD.
Honestly with that money I could build a decent PC.
I would have loved n64 and gamecube classictoo broke, i stopped after the wii. and with online being a paid sub, despite the garbo online servers? imma pirate any console after the wiiu, but buy merch and stuff to support.
Kidding you not, yes, there's still plenty of boxed consoles in big department stores. I presume because they've been overpriced since launch day. That's crazy, Do they still have new boxed untis that never got sold or something? Do they still have lots of crt's in mexico?
Do they still have boxed GameCube controllers, from the Smash Switch/Wii U relaunches of Smash?Kidding you not, yes, there's still plenty of boxed consoles in big department stores. I presume because they've been overpriced since launch day.
Also, Mexicans prefer PS and XBOX over Nintendo consoles. A Nintendo Mexican is indeed rare.
About CRT's, you won't find them at stores but will find them in street/flea markets and repair shops.
I don't know... but I'll check today, just for you.Do they still have boxed GameCube controllers, from the Smash Switch/Wii U relaunches of Smash?
Cool story, bro.My parent has gotten an original nes at one point. My dad ended up selling it for beer money when he was not working.
In N64/PlayStation era. Mario (Mario 64) was what they were familiar with, because they recognized him from Mario and Mario 3.
They felt more confident in cartridge media because cd disks were prone to scratches, something they had experienced from music cd's.
We got got a GameCube shortly after they removed the digital port. My mother liked the game Luigi's mansion.
We did not get a Xbox/Ps2 because my parents had seen the my uncle get gta III/Vice city and other M rated games for my cousins. They thought all the games were M.
We did get the Wii. We did not get much play in the beginning until I modded it. Afterwards I bought my first 160 GB external drive. I felt I could finally play a video game generation the way it was meant to be played. Caught up on all I missed out on the gamecube era and played all the major wii games.
My younger brother eventually ask for a a 360 late in the cycle my mother got it for him, same with the xbox one s.
I purchased a ps3 super slim. At the time never played it much. I modded it early this year and taught my 8 year old brother about what it means for a system modded, and about why going online and updating should not be done. I told him alot of the game franchises really took off in the ps3 era, and it was important to learn about them. He very much liked the Little Big Planet Trilogy.
I ended up getting a switch near launch. never got to modding it, because my younger brothers would play too and I did not mind. The switch is the is the game where you can still play 4 player party games like Mario party, Mario land ect.
Haven't asked everyone individually, but I'll try to have this in mind after I go check if there's boxed controllers. Why were people drawn to the Xbox and PlayStation over there?
i asked a friend who had spend a couple more years in in Mexico then me, they were Nintendo fans, he had a super Nintendo. He had asked his dad for a n64, dad got him the PlayStation because the dad saw the controller, and did not feel confident seeing the controller.I don't know... but I'll check today, just for you.
Cool story, bro.

I used to agree but then the Wii U happened. I'm a lot more wary after that. It's not about IF I will buy the new Nintendo console, but WHEN.

Am I missing something? What's preventing you from making a second user to play the game on a second save file?I hate Nintendo's attitude towards gamers.

Have you played animal crossing? Animal crossing creates 2 save files. A file for the game itself your town/city/island and a file for your character.I used to agree but then the Wii U happened.

Nowadays the Wii U is an emulation dream, it can emulate almost any prior Nintendo console (no good N64 emulation tough), and ofc Wii U games, all can be played on its gamepad's screen in all its glory.[...]

The touch pad is the best way to emulate the DS games on the big screen in my opinionNowadays the Wii U is an emulation dream, it can emulate almost any prior Nintendo console (no good N64 emulation tough), and ofc Wii U games, all can be played on its gamepad's screen in all its glory.
My Wii U is still on Morpheus arms tough, as I haven't had the time to fix it as it deserves.
