Hello. This is english translation for Pictlogica Final Fantasy.

Progress:
- Everything should be translated.
- Out-of-region banner should be fixed for all regions (banner files are attached to the post).


There are mistakes, typos etc in this translation, as neither English, no Japanese are my native languages.
A lot of dialogs, text boxes have symbols limit, so some mistakes, like missing articles, are intentional, so the text can fit. For example, descriptions in collection sections can fit 108 symbols total and 36 symbols per line; system dialogs can fit 32 symbols per line.


How to install:
- Unpack archive and copy "00040000001BE100" folder into "Luma" -> "Titles" folder
- Also I recommend to hex-edit save file to disable all timers. Instructions.
* To fix out-of-region banner and get normal loading times you need to extract and rebuild game cia.

Unpacked game font - it has latin characters. So the translation should be possible without font hacking? :unsure:

Small out-of-region banner fixing guide.

We are interested in .bcmdl files, it is different for each region and language. Here is the list:

  • banner1.bcmdl - EUR_EN
  • banner2.bcmdl - EUR_FR
  • banner3.bcmdl - EUR_GE
  • banner4.bcmdl - EUR_IT
  • banner5.bcmdl - EUR_SP
  • banner6.bcmdl - EUR_DU
  • banner7.bcmdl - EUR_PO
  • banner8.bcmdl - EUR_RU
  • banner9.bcmdl - JPN_JP
  • banner10.bcmdl - USA_EN
  • banner11.bcmdl - USA_FR
  • banner12.bcmdl - USA_SP
  • banner13.bcmdl - USA_PO
  • banner14.bcmdl - CHN_CN
  • banner15.bcmdl - KOR_KR
  • banner16.bcmdl - TWN_TW


Now what to do whit it:
  • Create a copy of game .bcmdl file from another region. Select one that is displayed correctly on home screen. I think the best bet here is banner from native region for your game.
  • Rename this copy to region you need (list of names-regions is above).
  • Open your .bcmdl file in hex editor and go to 000011D0. We are interested in the selected text (in this case, JPN_JP). Change it, for example, to EUR_RU. Save changes.

So in the entire gbatemp community there is no one who can help me with idxres_*.dat files editing? :unsure:
I still need such utility to finish Pictlogica Final Fantasy and PicrossE9 translations.

Update.
Added translation of: weapons names, enemies names, level up messages, battle massages, huge plate picross names etc.
Also fixed: skill names that appeared on battle screen, some text in settings etc.

Tutorials, characters descriptions still aren't translated. I need help with characters descriptions.
Also I think to retranslate achievement names.

Getting some bad load times with the patch installed, not sure if it's on my end or it's just something that needs fixing in the patch

This is very exciting! What is left that needs to be translated?
Memoria's/Not memoria's descriptions - 111 of 160/ 9 of 160 are translated (108 symbols max per description, 36 symbols max per line). I am working on this, but Animal Crossing New Leaf slowed down the process.
Some achievement names need to be retranslated.

Are the translation spreadsheets up to date? I may be able to help
It will be great.
You can try to translate “IdxRes_CollectData_Other.decomp.dat” part from “characters descriptions.txt” or spreadsheet files (don’t forget about limitations). Or try to retranslate achievement names from spreadsheet.

Not quite sure how the banner thing works, where do i get that file and where would i put it afterwards?
Extract game .cia file -> edit banner files + copy translation files into romfs folder-> rebuild .cia file -> install .cia file.
I'll upload edited banner files with next translation update.

Could you provide a guide on how to do this?

    I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
